or will they give you an idea of prices over the phone or via email? Also, do you need to set up an appt or can i just walk into a florist?
I would think you have to call and make an appointment. . . you're going to bargain better in person and want to make sure they understand what you're looking for!
I would def make an appointment to see a florist, there they will show you pics, help you with your ideas and go over diff flowers and prices and CP size etc. I recomend Pedestals.
I would set up an appointment. Most probably will want you to comein so they can see what you are looking for and talk through what you want to give you a price. I you are discipitive enough though, they probably will be a ble to givce you a ballpark figure.
i know i have to go at some point b/c i don't know anything about flowers but i was hoping to check out a couple of local florists and then compare with some of the bigger popular ones like pedestals. though i'm totally last minute so the big ones are probably booked... which doesn't bother me so much, there has to be SOME florist out there who can do my flowers. i don't need that many.
You should definitely be able to find someone, especially if you do not need centerpieces or something like that .... I am going to be doing the same thing, visiting a few places that are local and then going to one or two big places to see what the difference in price is. I have heard, though, that Flower Michele is very reasonable ... and I would have thought they were much more.

definitely go in person to negotiate. i actually posted exactly what i needed (# of centerpieces, bouquets, etc.) on Vendors Helping Brides, as well as emailed a bunch of places in order to get quotes. that's how i decided which places to go to. it made my life a lot easier.
