Met w/ a florist who said blue roses are impossible to find, they dont naturally occur in nature, blah blah blah but that they could work with my vision of light blue flowers by SPRAY PAINTING the color on a regular cream or light colored rose...
Now I've seen red roses, yellow roses, pink roses, and dark dark blue flowers (delphiums?) but light, pastel blue roses? Is this florist right? I want light blue roses but I def dont want to spray paint them because the flowers will wilt!

I'm pretty sure he's right - blue roses aren't natural and have to be dyed one way or another. Are there other flowers you can use that would meet your color palette?

Yeah, sorry. Blue roses don't exist in nature.
What about ivory roses with other blue flowers? Blue hydrangea would be really pretty.

how can they dye the roses so that they don't wilt? Other flowers I was thinking of were blue hydrangeas, but they are sooo....predictable and kinda boring. I will probably have them on centerpieces anyway, but I want roses in there as well - a mix of cream roses and light blue ones.. I just see pictures of blue roses (see my album) and wonder how they get them to look so nice.

I know in elementary school we did a project where we dyed white carnations by putting food coloring in the vase and eventually, they turned color. Maybe they do that with roses?

If you put blue food coloring in the water, the roses will absorb the color and turn a pale blue. That's what a florist told me when I told him I wanted blue flowers. Now I'm using white though, so I don't know if it actually works.

I'm doing ivory roses with apparently predictable blue hydrangeas--sorry.
