I have called around to different florists, and I can honestly say...i am surprised how much they are. what advice do girls have to keep the cost down, and how much is reasonable?
Thanks in advance....

I went with Burton's....we got bo-ks, bouts and corsages....they were amazing, beautiful, fresh and HUGE! We made our own CPs (frames, silk petals and votives)....it saved a lot!

You can limit your flower costs by using flowers that are in season, having low centerpieces, limiting your job scope, and negotiating with vendors.
Here is a list of flowers and their corresponding seasons. You can also use roses, which are low-priced except around Valentine's Day.
Investigate using silk flowers or non-floral centerpieces (plants, candles, etc.) as well.

Honestly, I love flowers, but IMO they probably arent worth it. If I had to do it all over again, I probably would have done it differently with less flowers. They are beautiful, but sooooo expensive and just get thrown out at the end of the day. You can do some beautiful things with candleabra and maybe just some flower petals. I went to a friends wedding last year; she had candleabra for centerpieces and I never even noticed the absence of flowers. She had to tell me about it months later.

We are making candle centerpieces, with some flower petals around the table. This cut back the cost by a lot. I just couldn't spend that much money on something that I was only going to see for a couple of hours.

I think we'll be doing either low centerpeices or candle centerpieces

I went with Burtons. They were the most reasonably priced for what I wanted (Note: they may not be the most reasonably priced for what you want so compare prices). We got CPs, Boks, and Bouts from them. Luckily our church was already decorated so we did not need to spend any additional money on that. If you really want to save money, I suggest doing candle CPs or even going to Stop and Shop and getting CPs made. I know at first this seems like an odd idea but they can do great CPs for a reasonable price.

i cut costs by not doing candle CPs - i am just having an arrangment on the card table and the memorial table ... and then of course the bouquets and bouts

Re: Flowers...really worth it?
i'm not a flower person at all---so i didn't care much about big fancy CPs and such. i think reducing the type of CPs you do maks HUGE difference in cost
check out Burton's--i used them and they are known for their prices for flowers!

Re: Flowers...really worth it?
I didn't do centerpieces and saved a ton that way. the hall had a basic centerpiece for each table and that was fine with me. only flowers i did were flowers for me and BP and corsages. also did 2 very simple arrangements for the church.

I'm getting married at the Fox Hollow-ceremony too. They are supplying me with my ceremony flowers, so that saved me a lot. I booked my flowers with Flowers By Brian. I thought he was very reasonable. He did my sisters flowers for her wedding so I know what the outcome will look like. let the florists know your budget and see what they can do for you. If you want mixed flowers it will be more money, but it you go simple it won't be so bad.

Re: Flowers...really worth it?
i went through this drama last month.. flowers or no flowers.. and everyone around me was going nuts because they couldnt believe how easy the decision was..
and to make matters worse, i checked out a couple of florists and all of it just made me stick by my decision of NO flowers much easier.. until i met Jennifer from Verbena Designs
she's soooooooooooooo reasonable and is such a wonderful person.. she only does one wedding a day.. and she gave me such a good deal.. and my sample arrangement was out of this world.. stunning.. i was awestruck!! so please go talk to her.. she's recently married, so she knows all about the costs.. and her prices was THE BEST..
loads of luck!!

We are in the same boat. We love the flowers however its sooo expenseve. We did not get flowers for the church or on the pews. We just did tool on the pews. We went with pretty basic ceterpeices which helpes cute costs. The only thing we didnt cut on were the bouqets...they are in all the pics so we wanted them to be nice! Good luck
