Re: Favors & Flowers & FMIL
I would do a small tiny centerpiece, maybe 5 flowers and candles all around them.
I also wouldnt' do wine stoppers, I do find them a waste. Why not candy, most people won't throw it away, or donations.
I'm all about keeping the peace, so I would try and compromise.
Good Luck

how about a donation favor? Might be hard for FMIL to say something bad about charity, and you will be doing a nice thing.

We're doing gerba daisy heads and candles floating in bowl of water. Some flowers but not too many. It may satisfy your FMIL. You could also do petals around the tables. I do agree about the big, flowery centerpieces.

Re: Favors & Flowers & FMIL
i went to a wedding where they had a vase with a beta fish in a large vase. They played a game with the people who wanted to take one home with them. Ours lived for 1 1/2 years after the wedding and required little maintenance (I bought a small bottle of fish flakes and changed its water once a week)...

Re: Favors & Flowers & FMIL
I too am not into lots of flowers, though I do love the way they look; me spending alot of money for something that will die in a couple of days is not my thing. Even if someone els is paying. How about they jus give me that extra money. We're going in this direction, and if any flowers it will be like the third pic
I was thinking the samething as you..in a way flowers are such a waste and then of course fmil..you have to do things the right way...im in that same situation...the way i look at it is me and fh are paying for the whole wedding and it is OUR DAY...so there for we can make the decisions that we want to...srry for that mini vent....i just know what your going through... i say do candleabras...there always pretty

Re: Favors & Flowers & FMIL
First of all I agree with the notion of 'no pay no say' period end of story. So if you want candle CPs and full sized bottles of wine with stoppers for favors then SO BE IT!!! Your FMIL will have to deal with it!
As for the wine stoppers... I'm a big wine drinker so I would love something like that. I think you need to know who your guests are. If most of them are beer drinkers I would stay away from something like that. But the bottom line is this... It's your day, so what you want is what goes. End of story.
As my wise old grandma used to say... Opinions are like A$$holes... Everyone has one and they all stink!
This is your's and your FI's day... Do what you like!

You could always get ONE wine stopper, give it to your FMIL and tell her where she can put it!
