Re: flying a pet....
sorry to crash but Ive flown my cat to LA and back with me and it was a 6 hour flight! She did really well, I had her under my seat and occasionally pet her through the bag. Only thing is, make sure you dont put her through the X ray machine like FH did. The woman thought she was a chicken and started screaming, 'THERES A CHICKEN IN THE MACHINE' I guess cause of the way she was lying, she looked like a chicken. I was a nervous wreck thinking something was wrong with her after but she was fine lol
Oh and I forgot to mention, bring some treats to feed her through the bag.

when i talked to my vet about bring my moms dog with me on a trip flying... he said that i could give her something to knock her out, if it's going to be a long flight... but then again that depends on if you want to do that to them... my moms dog is a bit of a nervous wreck, she would have been sleeping the whole way and woken up normally... but then again i dont know what the rules are when flying pets.

welcome... i try.. =) we took her once to canada.. by car tho... and he told us to give her some kind of pill... i forgot what it was.. but it relaxed her soo much, that she was walking around the car no problem... and she's a scaried cat when she gets into cars.. she'll start to shake and almost cry.. lol it's that bad... we gave her those and she was fine.. lol she looked drunk.. haha... goodluck!!!

Your vet will probably give you some Acepromazine which is a mild tranquilizer for animals. Usually for such a short flight (NY to Fla right?) it will be a really small dose. It just kinda takes the edge off and helps to prevent any motion sickness.
Hope this helps

Re: flying a pet....
So where is your cat going to be if she is flying on a different flight? Will someone put her in front of their seat like jetblue does?

Re: flying a pet....
i only know that when my F-cousins-IL flew to seattle when they moved, they were on one of those jet blue flights that sat on the runway for a little while, and they were freaking about bc if the plane sits too long like that, something bad can happen. i think it might have to do with oxygen or heat or something but i don't remember. sorry
