Re: Flying on Sept 11th
Hi Cindy......I had a thing with flying on the 11th also. I wanted to be home before it. Just when you think you're almost done - something else to think about.....How are plans going???

Re: Flying on Sept 11th
Lori- Very stressed. I still have to get my programs done. I am looking for a maeup person too. It just seems like everything I think is going to be done, something is wrong and I have to go back and redo it. We are actually leaving Maui to come home on Sept 10th, but when we change in La to come home it is Sept 11th. It is a late flight that I took going home from Maui on the 10th. Anything new on your end?

Re: Flying on Sept 11th
So far I've been ok with the stress. I met with my DJ to go over the play list, I'm very confident that he will do a great job. Going next Tuesday to the Hamlet to do the menu. I think the menu is the only big thing left. Oh, I haven't done the seating - that's probably when I'll get stressed!!!

Lori,I just did the seating for the past two days. It isnt very easy. We finally got it done. We need to have the floor plan to Flowerfield by Friday. You sound like you hardly have anything left. Lucky you

Re: Flying on Sept 11th
Did you find a make-up person yet? Why don't you check out the counters at the department stores? I buy alot of Clinique at the Commack Macys and I know that they do weddings because they asked me if I was interested but I had already gone to Jacqueline.

Re: Flying on Sept 11th
Security is going to be up the wazo on 9-11 I wouldn't fear flying cross country at all! Also, I don't know what airline you are flying but sprirt airways is offering free airfare on that date. The only thing I would be concerned about is some airlines are planning on cancelling some of there 9-11 flights do to people being afraid to fly. So, I would call up about that if I was you.. and think about how someone cancelling there flight on the days around it or days after might affect you and then think about if you really want to do it.
I have personally flown about 20 times since 9-11 flying between NY and Denver or Csprings to see my fiance with no problems at all. You just have to be alert but stop being afriad. Fear is what kills us more then anything. We made it through all the major holidays and the terror alerts and yes, I don't doubt anything else will happen ever but I wouldn't be anymore afraid to fly this 9-11 then any other day around.
Best of luck will all you do and your planning! And all else fails take a few extra days vacation..

Re: Flying on Sept 11th
If you feel flying on 9-11 will concern you and your family then maybe extend your trip by a day or two. Peace of mind is so worth it, especially on your honeymoon. I am so happy that your wedding is coming up soon, I am sending all my best wishes for you.

Re: Flying on Sept 11th
We were originally flying on Sept. coming back from our honeymoon, but we changed it to Sept. 10. We're not comfortable with flying, especially on Sept. 11.

Re: Flying on Sept 11th
I wouldn't change it. I was amazed by the level of security at BWI when I flew to LI a few months ago. Besides, I think if we change our lives out of fear, then we have lost something more than we realize. JMO.

Re: Flying on Sept 11th
Well said 07052002...I feel the same way as you...1. I don't think anything will happen that day, b/c people are really going to be on their guard.
2. I have flown a dozen times since last September and encounter amazing security...DH (who's family is from Spain - so he has black hair and brown eyes) was singled out to be searched head to toe (clothes on) and they said b/c that he fits a 'profile' (we used to joke with him that he looks like a terrorist in her license picture)
Also, I flew stand-by on a flight and when I made the flight...they pulled EVERYTHING out of my carryon...underwear...tampons...EVERYTHING
3. Believe it or not...there ARE air marshals on flights now (of course we don't know which ones)...a co-workers husband applied to be one. He is a federal agent, but of course with 2 young children, she talked him out of it.
I know that it seems cliche, but fear and disruption to our way of life, was the goal of the attacks. BUT..you have to go with your gut...

Re: Flying on Sept 11th
Flying is still the safest mode of transportation BY FAR!! Flying on any day is much safer than walking across the street.

Re: Flying on Sept 11th
I totally agree with Sonicstef, Yabbobay, Becky & 07052002. I just got back from Miami last week and they searched our things, ALL of our things. They took my tweezers away! Well said, we can't live our life in fear, that's no way to live life to it's fullest. Plus I highly doubt they would try to attack us with our own planes again, if anything they will try something else that has low to no security. I'm sure the whole country will also be in high state of alert that day too so I wouldn't worry about flying. Good luck with your planning and take a deep breath...everyhting will be fine!
