Flying while your pregnant??

Ok, I have a question...

Is it ok to fly in an airplane when your pregnant.. I'm going into my 8th week and I have to fly to Florida on Friday and I'm a bit nervous about it.

I called my Dr. about 10 min ago and I'm waiting for him to call me back.. but in the meantime I'm sitting here worried if it's ok or not??

HELPPPP I'm stressing right now!!

TIA!

I believe that is ok until later in your pregnancy. My friend was an international flight attendant and she flew through her first trimester. She stopped in her 2nd because that many hours was causing her to swell really bad each flight.

ETA But check with your Dr. about the metal detectors

Ok, whewwwww..
It feels good to be reassured nothing will happen..I feel a little better.

I'm just so nervous about having a miscarriage.. I dont want to do anything that makes my risks greater..

I never thought about the metal detectors tho.. do you think they are that bad?? I cant imagine them being harmful, but you never know.

I'm definitely asking when he calls!

Thanks!!

I would check with your Doctor but I have tons of friends who have had to fly and flew throughout there whole pregnancies.

The concern of the airline is that you won't have the baby in the air.

And your main concern should be to protect yourself from DVT, you are comfy and that you can buckle yourself safely.

I've read that the metal dectectors are low enough they don't affect pregnant women.

I can't spell it. Basically just to protect yourself from blood clots (which you should do flying anyway even if your not pregnant)... wear loose clothing, exercise your legs in seat just basically move around.

Where in Florida are you going?

Re: Flying while your pregnant??

Were flying into Orlando. This trip is for 2 reasons.. One, were going to check out our house that's being built in Palm Bay to see the progress.. and Two, (the main reason were going) my DH is taking the FBAT test (Florida Basic Abilities Test) for the Police.. it's one of the requirements before he starts the academy.

My Inlaws have a vacation home 1 town away from Palm Bay so were staying there. It's on the East Coast of Florida.

When I booked this trip we were planning on going to Island of Adventure to hit the rides, but that's all on hold now that I'm pregnant.
I think we'll be going to Sea World instead

I usually wear comfy clothes when I fly.. it's bad enough the seats are horrible..thank god it's only a 2 1/2 hour flight!

.. and thank you for the explanation of DVT!!

Yes flying early in pregnancy is FINE!!! Most planes dont let you on after 36 weeks. Make sure you move around, drink plenty of water because it makes you dehydrated. Being 8 weeks the most you should worry about is getting sick while in the air Have a great trip!

Awesome!! Thank you girls so much!!
I feel 1000000000x's better!!

I havent had any morning/afternoon/evening sickness yet (thank god!)
..I hope it doesnt rear it's ugly head while flying.. I'd hate to be the one that actually uses that bag, but i'll make sure to keep it right by my side.. LOL

Thanks again!!
