By looking at the title of my post, many of you may have thought this was a rant about my FMIL. But really, it’s quite the opposite. I have gone back and forth about posting about this on here, but it’s finally come to a point where we need all the help we can get and this was the first place I thought of. My FMIL was diagnosed with cancer last November. After many months of going to different doctors giving her different diagnoses, she was told that she has a very rare form of uterine cancer. The cancer has actually metastasized in her bladder. After her first round of chemo, the tumor stayed the same size. After the second round, we were all thrilled to find out that the tumor shrank. And now, after her third round of chemo we were told that the tumor has grown and there is actually a second tumor now. We were also told that during the second round, the tumor didn’t actually shrink. It was just that the tumor is an irregular shape and it was hard for them to actually tell if it had shrunk. Aren’t doctors great??? Anyway, FMIL is now at Sloan-Kettering having a super treatment. She is having 3 days of straight 8 hour chemo treatments. My reason for this post was not to depress you all. It was to ask that you keep FMIL in your prayers. Whoever you pray to, whether it is Jesus, Buddha, the Dalai Lama, or simply a spiritual being that there is no name for, I ask that you say a small prayer for her. She could really use all the help she can get. And to know that you would all be helping her in some small way would mean the world to me.
Thanks for listening.

Re: FMIL
I will pray for her tonight along with my usual prayer that I do daily to the rosary (which my mom got me from the Vatican)... I'm so sorry your FMIL, you and your FH (as well as his family) are going through all of this right now. It's just terrible but there can be miracles... they can happen. So, for now I will pray for one for you, but before I do let me leave you with this miracle story: (Maybe this will lift your spirits and give you something to believe in)...
My cousin was diagnosed with brain cancer at the age of 24 (they found two inoperable brain tumors). They listed her as day to day, meaning: she didn't even have a '6 months' prognosis. They were not sure whether she would even make it to the end of the week. She went to Sloan Kettering and to NYU Medical Center in the city for treatment. They were able to operate on part of one of the tumors (they removed a small piece of it)-- so she had to have the hair at the top of her head above her forehead shaved off)... that really made her spirits low and then she lost more hair once she started chemo. They then put her into a 'class' at NYU of all different people (young and old, some even children) who had the same 'prognosis' as she did and very similar brain tumors. There were about 65 people in this class-- fast forward to four/five years later and sadly, every person from that class has passed away except my cousin. She is still here, healthy, she still goes to the Doctor a lot and they are always checking her status (which still has not changed: the tumors are still there, not any bigger--they were able to eventually stop the growth)... and that's where they stand right now. They are talking about in the next few months moving her to the 'remission' stage. She has, since she's gotten sick, got married and started a new career...plus, her hair has been back to normal for a long time now. You would NEVER know she's sick... She is a living miracle and proof that no matter WHAT the doctor's say or tell you: people DO survive.
I hope that my cousin's (Debbie) story gives you a small sense of hope at a time where I'm sure it is so difficult to think positive.

Re: FMIL
I'm so sorry and I wish I would have seen this post earlier. My FMIL was diagnosed a few weeks ago with small cell lung cancer. It's the rare type of lung cancer, and is usually not curable. It has also spread to her spine. She is already in the hospital and she's only gone through one round of chemo. I'm not trying to depress you --- I'm just trying to tell you that you're not alone. It's so hard #1 because we care so much about them....and #2..it really makes the wedding planning depressing rather than exciting(for me at least).......I'm so sorry that you're going through this and I will pray for her, your FH, and you of course!
