No... sorry to be bitter tonight. She actually is usually my confidante when it comes to me and my FH. But every now and then she surprises me. Such as with this wedding. She said in the beginning that anything she could do to help my parents with the wedding finances, let her know. When I asked my FH to ask her how much she meant, she said she never said that. And it's been all downhill from there. Tonight's episode is the straw that broke the camel's back... just too nervy for me to get past... for now anyway. I'm just so upset. I really hope you and your FMIL stay as close as you are! I'm sure you will! It's just so upsetting how much crap rises to the surface with weddings!

Re: FMIL....
well, I did the same for my ILs that I did for my parents. Obviously they walked down the aisle, got announed at the reception, and had dances (my dad and MIL) with their children (DH and I). But other than giving both sets of parents gifts at the RD, we didn't do anything special. Both moms got flowrs to either wear or hold, but I think that is standard. Oh, and both sets of parents got songs played that they requested.
But specifically for your mom or MIL, I'm not sure what you would want to do. What did you have in mind?

i am basically doing the same stuff - anything i am doing for my parents I am doing for his parents
even putting both sets on the invites even though his parents arent helping us and my parents are only helping out with certain things . . .

Re: FMIL....
I am getting a corsage for my FMIL and she will be taking a limo with FH. I was considering having a little dedication song played for her and my FFIL since they are GREAT dancers.

Re: FMIL....
I will be honoring both mothers during the ceremony... pastor april suggested a 'rose ceremony' and here's the jist of it... i may think my fmil is nutty sometimes but she made my FH what he is today hehe.. so ill honor both of them...
Rose Ceremony
“Patricia and Patricia, as the future comes from the past, know that without you this day would not be taking place. As we all know marriage is a coming together of two lives and a celebration of the love of two people. But it is also so more. The love that Christi and Brett feel for one another is the flowering of a seed planted by you in their hearts years ago. The very reason they know how to give and receive love itself is a direct result of the love that they were shown by you as they grew into the man and woman that we see here today. Simply by being who you each are you have allowed and created the fertile ground from which all you see around you has blossomed. Your children love you very much and thought that now would be the perfect time to remind you of this, by offering you these symbols of eternal love, these roses.”
The Bride and Grooms mothers are presented each with a rose
“May you be blessed with many healthy happy years of watching the next generation thrive.”

Re: FMIL....
Well our situation is a lil different.
My MIL had passed away so we had a memorial candle for her. Then we asked DH's aunt to stand in her honor, she wore a corsage and was one of the last to be seated (along with my grandparents). We made mention of this in our programs so that she would be recognized.
At the reception we had DH's aunt introduced along with everyone else. We had the memorial candle sitting on the table behind us. DH danced with his aunt but it wasn't a spotlight dance.

We're giving her flowers to wear around her wrist and she's taking a limo with my FH and his groomsmen to the church.

She will get a coursage (like my moms) and do the dance with her son.
