Ok, so now that I've seen some of your reactions, I'll fill you in on mine. FMIL is not an old fartsy lady, so I knew a traditional MOB or MOG gown was out of the question. Some pictures she showed me of dresses she liked were from prom and BM collections. I offered to go shopping with her, but she went today to Bridal Reflections in Massapequa. Now, she doesn't have a horrible body, but she doesn't have a body like the chick in the picture either. She is good looking for her age, but she does have a little tummy that makes her look maybe 2 or 3 months pregnant. She said this dress hides her tummy, which is why she liked it so much. And there's no cleavage she said. What you can't see in the picture is the dress has a slight train.

Am I overreacting, or would you be bothered by this dress as well. I am the 23 year old bride, not her. (We should have an icon for huffing!)

It is a little sexy for MOG if you ask me. I would be a little bothered by it. I'm not saying she has to wear something farty...my mom and FMIL aren't that type either, but maybe something a little more sophisticated. Is it a done deal? What did FH say?

Sorry, 08er crashing.

I'd be ok with my mom (or FMIL) wearing something like that. (THhough I dont' know about that color. Is the dress that red in person?) It's actually fairly simple style. There aren't thigh-high slits, major cleavage, cheesy sequins, etc. If you're getting married in church, maybe there's a shawl that comes with the dress that she can wear over it?

i didn't say anything in my first post because i didn't want to upset/offend you! IMO, it's a sexy dress(maybe not 100% wedding appropriate...) but it's not revealing. my mom's dress has a slight train, which i love, but then it's my mom, not my FMIL, so i am probably more forgiving. at least she ordered it in berry - very far from the gorgeous white dress you will be wearing!! just keep in mind - everyone will be looking at you - and those who are looking at her? well you know what they will be thinking!
