This day I will marry my best friend The one I laugh with, live for, love…
Arlene and Lou Falco invite you to join them in a celebration of love as their daughter, Danielle Marie is united in the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony to Peter Sebastian II, son of Julianne and Peter Sebastian Caliendo in a nuptial mass on Sunday, the twenty-ninth of May two thousand and eleven at three o’clock Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church 210 South Wellwood Avenue Lindenhurst, New York 11757
she said it sounds like its only from my parents.....my brother used the same type of wording and her parents had NOTHING to do w/ the wedding.....
well now im changing the wording so that OUR names are first (considering we are paying for like 70%of the wedding)
is anyone else's parents/inlaws being picky about the wording???

Re: fmil doesnt like the invitation wording
nahhhh. I actually wanted to put our parents on, but my mom said it wasn't necessary and FMIL agreed....I might still do it though...
But it doesn't look like its only from your parents. If it helps and will get rid of some tension, say something like 'together with our parents...' Then FMIL won't feel left out...

Re: fmil doesnt like the invitation wording
We had both of our parents at the top and then our names....I don't know if that is an option?
I did not like that it would look like my parents were hosting, so we switched it up

Re: fmil doesnt like the invitation wording
What if you try to word it like this...
The honor of your presence is requested at the marriage of Danielle Marie, daughter of___ and (your FH), son of ___
That's what we're actually trying to work with now.

Re: fmil doesnt like the invitation wording
OMG MY FMIL said the same exact thing about my invitation!!!! Mine read something very similar to yours/.....AHHH it was a big thing, but finally my FH and I held our ground and said that this is the way we want it to be. I am sure she was not happy with that answer but hey cant make everyone happy!
oh and PS the percentage of payment was the same as yours my parents like 75% ...

Re: fmil doesnt like the invitation wording
Hmm I can see what they mean by it sounds like it is only from your parents... maybe you could say something like,
Jane and John, Together with their parents Mr and Mrs Doe and Mr and Mrs Doette
that way you are all featured? If you word it like this everyone will know you are all paying.

Re: fmil doesnt like the invitation wording
Hate to play devil's advocate here but IMO that wording is usually used when the bride's parents are the hosts (aka, the ones paying the bill). If you want to include the parents, I would either list them both on top or have it read ' the bride & groom along with their parents.....'

Re: fmil doesnt like the invitation wording
my parents are paying for about 10-20% of the wedding and FH and I are paying for the rest (about 80%). my parents had a problem with their names not being on the invitation (rightfully so). FILs didnt say anything at all (since they're not contributing at all) but I wanted their names on it anyway. my parents were OK with that.
this is the wording we decided on b/c we didnt want it to seem like our parents were paying for everything but didnt want to leave them out either

Re: fmil doesnt like the invitation wording
we are paying the entire wedding ourselves..... however we decided to use
Mr. & Mrs. Ignazio Arcuri and Mr. & Mrs. Danilo Conti request the honor of your presence at the marriage of thier children Elizabeth Arcuri & Joseph Conti
etc etc.....
we just felt it was the respectful thing to do---- of course this was just our preference..... but I wanted to share it with you incase yu were considering different wording.

Re: fmil doesnt like the invitation wording
We went with the 'brides parents present/son of' wording as well....I just felt it was the way to go for us since thats very traditional wording (even though we are paying for the wedding). Anyhoo, my suggestion for you:
This day I will marry my best friend The one I laugh with, live for, love…
You are invited to join in a celebration of love as

Re: fmil doesnt like the invitation wording
I am using the same exact wording except I am not putting either of our parents names. We will just be saying 'together with our families'

Re: fmil doesnt like the invitation wording
this is something I am stressing too and I haven't even decides on invitations yet!
I want to put 'together with their parents'...we will see!! (they are contributed like 5% each to the wedding)
i think what you have is good but also agree if you keep yours parents name first but switch it the rest up a little might keep everyone happy
