FMIL Drama (borderline hysterical)

I know i have ranted about my fmil in previous posts but todays experience takes the cake....
I get a call from my fh's brother today and he says oh btw congratulations on your engagement (weve been engaged since september) im like ok thanks... he says dont expect my mom to be so gracious with you and congratulate you... (so gracious you are calling to say congrats four months later)... he says my mom is really upset that you didnt ask her permission to marry her son.. WHAT???? I didnt ask his moms permission and shes mad at me???? Fh's brother continues to state that she is also mad at my family because my fh asked my dad before he proposed and at that time my dad should have called her to make sure it was ok with her. On top of that he says he wants to know how much fh spent onmy ring because anything over 1000 dollars would be too much on a girl like me.....
I nearly spit the water i was drinking out....
how do oyu deal with insanity??

Oh boy! I'm so sorry! FH asked my father's permission and then told his parent's himself. It seems to me the person she's upset with is you FH but she's taking it out on you!!

I really don't have any advice....just

wow, what a nut! I think my best advice for you would be to let these crazy comments go in one ear and out the other.
I have decided through this process so far that if people cannot give me the courtesy of making logical and sane comments than I cannot give them the courtesy of caring about what they say.

OMG!!! That is beyond ridiculous! I feel so bad for you! Why on earth should it be your dads responsibility to call and ask for her permission! Plus what a jerk to say that you are not worth more than 1000!!!

I'd be laughing hysterically too (while loading my sawed-off shotgun).

That is insanity. Oh boy Tara, you are certainly going to have a very trying and stressful time with this wedding. At least you know you have us!
