Have any of you gone dress shopping with your FMIL? I am torn on this issue. My FMIL is fantastic, I love her a lot and i am very lucky in the FIL department. That being said, we are not SUPER close, they live in CT, we live in the city, so we see them every 6 weeks or so.
FMIL has 3 boys and loves all things girly, so I think she would love dress shopping. Should I invite her? I always envisioned it just being me and my mom, but my MOH said she would be heartbroken if she couldn't come, and my one aunt that I am very close to has expressed the same. I guess I should just have the whole gang. I worry about too many opinions, but I guess entering in to a new family isn't the time to be selfish.

Re: FMIL & Dress Shopping?
I would definitely include her-
BUT...
For your first time trying on gowns, just bring like 2 people (because it gets crazy). Bring your fmil when you narrow down the choices.
I'm so glad I brought mine, she came on the 2nd dress shopping excursion. She'll probably come for one of the fittings too.

This is a tough call...
I always imagined going with just my mom too, but I ended up going with 5 people!! Haha!
I would have to say it's really a nice gesture to invite ur fmil. I think that it would make u guys even closer then you are. You are blessed to have a great fmil that wants to go with you!

Re: FMIL & Dress Shopping?
I just wanted my mom to be the only mom there that being said FMIL & FSMIL didn't ask to come and I didn't invite them
If you just want it to be your mom I am sure she will understand

Maybe you can take your mom shopping with you at first, and then bring everyone else on a subsequent visit. Or invite everyone along when you go with your fittings. If it means a lot to go with just your mom and you, then I think that is the relationship you should be most concerned with.

Re: FMIL & Dress Shopping?
I only brought my mom and two sisters, but did show FMIL a pic when I finally chose one. I'll also let her come to the first fitting.

I think maybe the first time I'm going to take just my mom, and then after that I'll start asking people to come!

Re: FMIL & Dress Shopping?
I would definitely advise to invite FMIL. I am actually going dress shopping tomorrow with my mom and my FMIL . They have 2 boys and no girls and I know how much she would love that experience. I think this would only strengthen your relationship with ur FMIL. So go, have fun and ultimately pick the dress YOU love !

Re: FMIL & Dress Shopping?
Mine didn't come the first time - it was just my mom, my sisters and my best friend.
The second time she came and she was actually a big help. I was torn between two dresses and she convinced me to get the one that I bought because, as she told me... 'This is the kind of dress that my son thinks about when he imagines you walking up the aisle towards him'.
She probably just made something up to make me feel more confident in my choice - but hey, it worked!
