FMIL!!! ERRRGGG!

FMIL!!! ERRRGGG!

So FILs have decided not to help us pay for the wedding. The comment to FMIL to my mom was 'I raised my children to know that you should not take people out to dinner, if you cant afford to pay for them'..interpretation...DONT HAVE A WEDDING YOU CANT PAY FOR IT!. Well, thats fine, dont help pay..I am cool with that...but then DONT INSIST on having certain things at the wedding!!

OK--so last night I went to FIL's house for dinner. We were talking about a party for his cousin's 2 year old son thatwe have to go to. FMIL says that his cousin's dad offered to buy some pizza's and some salads for the kid's 2nd birthday party because FH's cousin's husband left her about a year ago and she had to sell her house..blah blah blah...basically, she is going through a rough time. So I casually mention that I thought it was nice for his cousin's dad to offer to pay for the food to have the party. FMIL says 'well, if you want to act like an adult then you should pay for things like an adult'..ERRRGGG!!! I was like 'well I think its nice. She is going through a rough time and her dad just wants to make the party nice for his grandson'...she got ALL PISSED OFF and later left the house without saying goodbye to me.

She can be SO opinionated and her opinions are usually the opposite of how i feel.

Ok--thanks for letting me vent...now back to your normal programming

Haha I hate when people who aren't paying offer 'suggestions' on how to have your wedding. If they want to offer their opinions, and have them count, then they can help with the costs they want to create.

To be honest, she is REALLY a nice woman. Up until FH and I got engaged, we had a great relationship. It just seems that her opinions about how the wedding should be paid for are VERY different than that of myself, FH, and my parents.

I have to respect her for having her opinion (lord knows I have plenty of my own)..but I just wish she wasnt so demanding of what she wants...or she would at least stop dopping the sutble hints.

For example--FIL's went to a wedding last week an FFIL LOVED the singer they had for during the dinner when the band took a break. FFIL said that he wanted to have the singer at our wedding but FMIL said NO because she didnt want to pay for him to have dinner....implying that we should pay for the dinner. It turned out that FFIL offered to pay for the singer...I told FH that we werent having the singer without THEM paying.
