I'm so sorry... I can relate, my FMIL is a pain. Just hang in there.

Re: FMIL frustration
I sooo feel your pain!! It's 3 weeks until my wedding, and suddenly she's 'thinking' of inviting more people. My parents are paying for the entire reception and it was agreed she would get 50 guests..now because a few people said no, and she's under 50, she wants to fill the seats. My mother politely said no, but it's aggravating, to say the least. I just keep thinking, a few weeks until the honeymoon and this will all be over..and it will pass for you, too.

I would be really frustrated too. As far as the gifts go, it would not, and will not, be rude for you to exchange the gifts for what you want. As far as the music goes, let her know that you're taking care of it and for her to not worry. My FMIL wanted to play a CD instead of having my band sing a certain song 'wrong.' lol!

Re: FMIL frustration
My FMIL DID actually invite more people to make up her 50 and then went OVER the 50 - but they're putting in extra to cover it, so it's okay.
Just return the gifts and get what you want. And as for the CD, see if your DJ already has it, and/or play a few songs, but don't let her play the whole thing.
