FMIL - How can I get her involved ?

Do any of you lovely Mom's have any ideas on how I might get my FMIL included in our planning?

She seems not intrested at this point - I really want to get her involved.

Hi. I see you are two years away from your wedding. Are you planning an engagement party or a gathering for the families to get to know eachother? Maybe you can draw her into the plans for that - decorating, centerpieces, favors, dresses. When you are ready to go looking, you can also invite her to see a few catering halls, florists, photographers, etc with you. Anything you would ask your mom's advice on you can ask her's also.

Good for you for trying to include her. She may not know if you want her input and she may be just as ackward about asking. I'm sure she will be thrilled once she sees you do.

Maybe she is afraid that you'll ask her to chip in if she's involved. Explain that you just want to include her in your plans. I am so into wedding stuff, but not every mother or mil is.

Tell her about the MOM forum on this site. Maybe she'll enjoy talking to the rest of us.

Re: FMIL - How can I get her involved ?

If you've read any of my posts, I have not been included in any of the planning for my sons wedding, which by the way is in 4 days. YIKES!.

It has been very stressful and hurtful NOT to be included. Maybe as time gets closer she will show support and interest.

Words of advice: PLEASE include her in your ideas, planning, excitement. Please don't take this in offense or out of content, but though 95% of the day is all about the bride, it is the grooms day also. I've shed more tears of dissappointment and heartache than I could ever imagine. I'm a mom who WANTS to be involved with the wedding, though they both know that I am not financilly secure to help in that way, but I'm a talented lady, a warm heart and a creative mind. My helping hands were always slapped. Know what I mean?

I'm sure she will have a change of heart. Keep us posted!
