My fmil is so negative sometimes..last night at christmas dinner she brings up the fact that my wedding is at the watermill, and says instead of throwing this big wedding thats only one night, you should have put it towards the house (granted i do sometimes think a house is a better investment) but is it so wrong that i wanted to have a wedding. Funny thing is MY PARENTS are paying for most of the wedding..my fmil has yet to offer any money at all..so what the heck is she complaining about..its really none of her business what we spend our money on..and then she goes on to say how wealthy my parents are (which is totally not the case, they are really in debt with their mortgage, when fmil has PAID off her mortgage). Then my fh had a really nice toast for the family..he picked up a really expensive bottle of champauge (cristal...i know it was alittle ridiculous) but then fmil has comments about that as well...saying she will lecture fh later about where he spends his money..it really just annoyed me last night..how is this any of her business...sorry so long..but i really needed to vent

yea i tried..i just can't take it! she really shouldn't stick her head where it doesn't belong especially during the holidays!

you are totally right kristin ugh, sorry but i cant stand people like that and certainly at my age (34) i have NO tolerance for that
when i was younger i'd bite my tongue but not anymore LOL unfortunately, I dont have a FMIL but FFIL is great and doesnt get involved in our personal business like that

thanks laura..i wouldn't say anything especially during christmas dinner..but shes so intrusive sometimes..she has a complaint about everything...When i booked the hall,..she kept going on about how far it was from HER FAMILY!! WHEN MY FAMILY IS PAYING FOR IT!!! and when we found the house (we are in contract for) she complained how far it was..and its only 20 minutes from her house..

I don't get why people think they have any say in how people spend there OWN money. I really wish we could say whats on our minds sometimes to them, but its just not worth it

Ugh- I have when people have to throw in their 2 cents.
BESIDES- your wedding is already booked so what can you do about it now.
I got some slack from my grandmother who doesnt even have an idea of what houses or weddings cost. But I set her straight and told her its nice that shes concerned, but we have everything under control.
Tell FMIL she doesnt need to worry about your $ or your parents $ for that matter!

I'm sorry about Fmil. The best thing to do is ignore her when she acts like that. I hate when people butt into other people's business especially financial business! If she isn't paying for the wedding at all why does she care where you are having it? I say have it wherever you want! This is the one time you are going to get married and it should be what you want it to be! You have time to get a house!
