My fmil annoys me SO MUCH sometimes! She is being ridiculous with the seating arrangements. I had her family and friends at 3 tables. She changed it to 4 tables and wants me to fax her the chart so she can show me which tables she wants them to be at! GRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!

Re: FMIL-NEED TO VENT!
If she's so bent on it, I'd hand her the list and tell her to do it herself. Why is it so important where anyone sits? What ever you do, she's just going to tell you to change it. Im no help, but I would be aggravated myself.

I agree with this, give it to her to do - good luck

I really didn't give my FMIL a choice...My DH and i did it together and if anyone didn't like it..well too bad. We did ask about the people we didn't know though but that was about it

I didn't actually 'give her a choice' either! She just said something about it. I told her I already made the seating arrangements but she 'was sure they need to be changed.'

Give her the chart, but then keep things the way you wanted (just don't mention that to her). She probably won't notice/remember on the day of the wedding.

Same here, I think the less people involved the better in this case.

Re: FMIL-NEED TO VENT!
My issue with MIL's is they don't need to get overwhelmingly involved, unless requested by the bride to do otherwise. If they want to give advice when asked, that's one thing. If they want to support you emotionally, mentally, or even monetarily, that too is also fine. They can have input, especially if they are financially chipping in (Personally I think ONLY if they are)..but I may be a bit too harsh.
Bottom line is, it's YOUR wedding...and YOU and your FH's final decision. So tell her in a very polite yet sturdy manner..I take what you say into consideration, but please understand my ultimate decision lies between your son and I. Thank you...(and shut your pie)...excuse the last part...I personally think my FMIL was built from scratch to form the one person I would conflict with more than any other human walking the face of this earth...
For all you brides who truly 'like' your MIL's, savor that, because your fortunate. Some MIL's can be overbearing, manipulative, and controlling. She is the mother of your darling future husband, and it will take some time to realize she isn't now and won't be the number one woman in her son's life anymore. Try not to obviously vent too much to your man about his mom, as tempting as it is. Just vent to your girls. :)
Sorry So long

Re: FMIL-NEED TO VENT!
Here's my 2 cents - I think you should ignore her, and do what you and FH want. What is she going to do - rearrange the tables at the reception? I am not making light of your problem, not at all. I know you want to make her happy, and for this to be a happy process toward your happy day. What I am so SICK and tired of is parents who think this day is about their friends and their family and not you. Ask FH to tell her (nicely) that you are a capable woman, and he is a capable man, and you'll do the 'right thing' yourselves. You made the decision to get married, you can certainly put 10 people at a table. And let it go. She's not worth the stress.
