so FMIL is a pain in the a**! We asked her to get a long gown for the wedding and in December she went and got a short one. She showed it to friends who told her it was not appropriate for a sat night affair so as of yesterday she started to online shop for dresses that were more formal. She emailed me 4 - one of which happens to be one dress my stepmother is considering. I told FMIL this just now via email and she said 'oh but i really love that one'. What do i do??? I wrote back saying if my step mom decides not to wear it i will let you know. should i be telling my stepmom she cant get it and let fmil get it?? stepmom emailed me this dress over a month ago so to me its fair if she gets to wear it....am i wrong??? what would you do?

I would Def recommed you to INSTEAD of searching online, GO TO THE STORES! DRESSES May be different in a Pic than in someone's body.... U never know maybe this dress doesnt go well with their bodies....
I will just say GO TRY ON DRESSES instead of searchin online.

I know MOB comes before MOG in the gown hierarchy, but I'm not sure where Step MOB comes in. However, your stepmom wanted it first. Can you send your FMIL suggestions?
I'm going shopping with FMIL. We spoke to hear from Day 1 that we'd go shopping together and/or I'd get final approval on her gown choices/

This was my FIRST thought... BUT in reality, her step mom has NOT picked that DRESS yes... She just showed it to her... NO ONE has picked it as 'THE ONE'....

Since your step-mom picked it first she should have a say whether she wants it or not. why dont you tell your step-mom that FMIL is interested in the dress so that way you know how serious your step-mom is about this gown.

Why don't the 3 of you go shopping together - that way they both definitely can't pick the same dress - have them both try it on and see how it feels....

That dress is all your Step-Moms!! If for some reason it doesnt fit her right or whatever, then you can tell FMIL she can go get that one. Each dress will look different in the pictures then on the actual body so the best thing is to start going to the stores!

thanks ladies! my step mom ordered that and one other and is deciding between the two. FMIL knew back in August i wanted long dresses and she chose to wait to now to look...well now its too late! glad you all agree that i shouldnt make step mom give it up.
i cant go shopping with them all...step mom lives in Virginia, and i offered to go with FMIL and she said she hates shopping and just wants to order online and try on at home.

Not only for the reason that your stepmom had the dress picked out first, but technically the MOB is suppose to purchase her dress first before the MOG purchases hers.

If I were you I'd email my stepmom and tell her to make her decision ASAP so your FMIL knows what to do. Your FMIL can NOT get that dress if it's what your stepmom wants.
