FMIL & our daughter's b-day

Sorry, but I have to vent...and don't really have anyone to vent to...
some wdvice or words of wisdom would be great!

this past Friday(8/06) was FH and my daughter Brianna's 6th birthday and for the 5th year in a row.... FMIL didn't even acknowledge it! I'm not 1 to be materialistic, BUT a phone call would of been great!
My daughter is at the age now where she can figure things out and she asked me the other day and it broke my heart: 'why doesnt daddy's mommy like me?'
FH doesnt get upset about it because he knows she is like this and let's her husband rule her life(not Fh father) ANd he knows that we dont need her to hold things over our heads but I am truly upset and hurt by this.... it's 1 thing to not like me...But DON'T do it to your grand daughter!

any words of advice or anything would be appreciated! this has been bothering me all weekend..
if you dont want to post, please FM me..
thanks ladies...your the best..

I am so sorry. Isn't it kind of sad that your own daughter at age 6, sounds more mature than her grandmother. I would tell your FMIL exactly what her grandaughter said!! Hopefully it will make her feel as bad as she is making her grand daughter feel!!

Well said!

Does FH have contact with her at all?

I think that is a great suggestion - to tell the grandmother what her precious little granddaughter said. If she can't turn around and make it up to her - I don't even know what I would do. I'm so sorry that you have to deal with this.

They live in the same house until we get married and have our own place, but he rarely speaks to her... he has no respect for her.... she is a horrible person....

I'd call her on it. Say, Brianna asked me why you don't like her because you didn't acknolwedge her b-day. What should I tell her?
