FMIL Update- thank you for your good thoughts!
After many many MANY tests that included a spinal tap, an EKG, an EEG, an EMG, a Brain scan, a MRI, an ultrasound of the carotid artery, and 26 vials of blood, FMIL has been diagnosed with having extremely high levels of LYME DISEASE in her spinal fluid, and the disease has affected some of her nerves. She's going for more tests next week to determine the extent of the damage. According to the Dr., chances are that she's had it for a very long time.
Her Dr. told her that they're going to treat the disease with 6 weeks of IV antibiotics, and for the nerve damage, no answers yet.
I don't really know anything about the disease, but I'll research it some tonight.
So anyway, it could've been MUCH worse - the possibilties were a brain tumor around the optic nerve, brain stem, aneuryism, etc...
Lyme is no fun, but it really is a relief to know.
