I am ready to elope. My FMIL is insisting that we do the chicken dance and electric slide at the wedding. I don't know what to do because I would rather have massive diarrhea then have to dance along to it let alone sit through it. I know a lot of people like it at weddings it's just not my style.

just tell her no. and make sure that the DJ dosen't take request at the reception this way she can't request it. have it where you and your FH are th eonly ones to give request for songs.

Have you told her that its just not your style? Can FH talk to her? Is she handling the DJ? If not give the dj a 'do not play' list and tell him not to let anyone make requests.
We're not in to group participation dances either so I know where you're coming from!

just don't play it and say the dj forgot it, put it on the 'DO NOT PLAY' list, also its really not that bad at all, people have MAJOR issues when it comes to wedding planning or life in general, don't sweat the small stuff its not worth it

I'm doing this as well, to not hurt family members feelings, they say things i think are stupid and am usually like... oh i never thought of that, or ill keep that in mind, when secretly I know i will have the do not play list yadda yadda.... but i also do try to think, we are throwing a party... if these things will make people have fun at the party... maybe i should allow them, nothing says i have to get up and do it....

Tell her thats soooooooooo 1980-90's and that no one will dance to it. THats def banned at my wedding, alot of my OTB's dont even know what this is , do whatever you want

I love your choice of words

I am in a very similar situation...FILs love to do those types of dances. Me on the other hand, I leave the dance floor when those songs came on. I refused to have them played. They think people will ask for them- so I booked a DJ who promised me that no requests will be played until I have okayed them- and if they are on my DO NOT PLAY list- they are not being played no matter what.

If it's not your style then they need to understand. I've been prepping them for the past year and a half

lol. I don't even know what I would do. just say you don't want that kind of wedding.
