Fh knows this it happen to him too ....I told him i would prefer not to be like that on xmas....but he just can't seem to see my side This xmas is gonna stink December 22-29th BLEH

Re: FMIL VENT
thats definitely not fair. you should at least spend one day of it WITHOUT her. Hopefully it isnt as bad as you think it might be.

Ugh tina that is no fun at all...can you make something else for yourself? If he can't say anything to her just do what you need to do. I completely understand because brad is somewhat like this with his mom. It is so frustrating. But, you have to remember it is YOUR holiday too and even though his mom coming and spending it with you two, it is still a time for you to enjoy yourself! Damn MILs

Re: FMIL VENT
Oh no...I was going to say to look on the bright side at least you don't have to cook but if her sauce does that to you I wouldn't be happy either. Maybe you should call her and just say that you were looking forward to cooking and maybe the 2 of you can split it up. That stinks that FH would not stand up to her. Maybe let him know that there needs to be a comprise. Or just go spend time with your family and let her do her own thing with her family.
Good luck...I feel for you!

Re: FMIL VENT
Maybe you could make an accent dish where you could make a sauce of your own for the table and FH & FMIL can have hers and you can have yours without anyone really noticing since there will be a mix of dishes on the table.
Also try maybe either a couple of days before Christmas or a couple of days after....leaving FH & FMIL to have 'quality time' together while you go to your families home....and then have a day where you bring her along....this way she doesn't feel left out.

Awww
How about you make some fixins on the side? Like days before and freeze them. You can even do that to sauce. Just tell her that incase she was tired or incase she wanted a break.... you decided to make some exctras. Things you can eat...
Ive been cooking for holidays so much (since i was probably 16) so if u want any recipes LET ME KNOW!

Re: FMIL VENT
Is there anyway you could tell FMIL in a polite way that you think her sauce is great, but you're not sure if it's the spices or oil that she uses, but it really upsets your stomach, so you'll have to make your own?
My sister had the same problem with her MIL...she used to get nauseous just from the smell of her sauce forget about eating it! It took her a while to finally tell my BIL, but once she did, he told his mother and what she does now is give him frozen containers of her sauce.
Good luck..these things ain't easy.

Re: FMIL VENT
I cant believe a woman would just take over another woman's kitchen like that! I like the idea that a few girls said about making some stuff on your own. It will look like you are trying to help but at the same time saving yourself from spending christmas night in the bathroom. Good luck!
