FMIL VENT

FMIL VENT

Haven't vented in a while... sooooo...

If FMIL suggests ONE MORE FRIGGIN TIME that we hold a second reception in PA so people don't have to travel to Long Island for the wedding I am going to stab someone. ARE YOU KIDDING ME??? OH YES, I am going to get married which is costing 10's of thousands of dollars and just tell his whole side of the family 'Oh, don't worry about it... we'll just throw another party in PA for you guys so you don't have to bother taking the trip to NY. No biggie.'

Sorry, not an eskimo's shot in h*ll.

One wedding, one time. If they don't want to come stay home. You can get airfare for under $150 round trip (I just checked). Not for anything but we would do it for people... and yes I guess it can be a lot but then like I said you don't have to come...just don't expect me to throw another party for these people.

I could see if a lot of these people had small children and would have to travel with them but they don't. All of his cousins are adults and not that many have children. I didn't think it would be so burdomsome for the adults in his family to make the trip. Can't people carpool if airfare is too much? What about Amtrack? It's a one time trip to NY. It's not like we're asking you to make a visit to the middle of bumblef*ck nowhere that is impossible to get to.

I suppose I shouldn't be surprised considering that since FH has been living here for over a year now they still flat out refuse to come visit. ('NY is just so far and his father just doesn't have that much vacation time') I didn't realize you were trapped in PA even over holiday weekends and that 20 days of vacation is just so little.

However I am thankful she has at least stopped complaining that his father is going to have to take ONE day off from work to make it to the rehearsal dinner the night before. (Did she plan on flying in on the morning of the wedding?)

She makes me absolutely nuts.

Vent over and thank you for listening.

Re: FMIL VENT

It's not like its California, its PA! If people are close to you, they will do everything they can to make it. They have advanced notice to do their arrangements. So sorry FMIL is being like this. I feel like 'older' or 'old-school' family just doesn't get it sometimes.

Re: FMIL VENT

Omg are you serious. I have family in PA and no one has complained about the 2 - 2/1 hour drive. I just made the drive to PA last weekend and it wasn't that bad.

Like you said, if they don't want to come then don't. This is their son's wedding, so what if his father has to take a day off. My father and FH's father have to take days off for our wedding and no one is complaining.

That's really thoughtless of them to think you would have money to have 2 receptions.

Oh boy! Good thing you didn't decide on a destination wedding. She would be freaking. PA is not far away at all and let's face it people always manage to take vacation when they want to. You would think that a wedding would be a reason to be excited about taking a vacation day (dare I say week?). She is probably having some internal issue about losing her little boy. Try not to let it bother you. I agree... one wedding .. one day... one party. Those that want to come will. Good luck!
