FMIL wants to invite someone this week...

FMIL wants to invite someone this week...

... and our response date is Thursday.

This weekend FMIL told us that one of her coworkers asked when we sent the invitations because she never received hers. For some reason FMIL didn't want to invite coworkers and my mother and FH both asked her on numerous occasions if she sure. NOW she wants us to send an invitation sent and the response date is 5/20/04.

Doesn't this look really bad? Like it was an obvious 'B' lister? FH is being really annoying about it too. I asked if his mother realizes how bad this will look and he said he doesn't care, it is her problem. Well, actually, since my parents are hosting, it is my parents who look bad.

I suggested that she bring it in to work and she doesn't want, so it must be mailed, we forgot to do it last night, so we will do it tonight and mail it tomorrow so it will get there a day before the response date (on LI)

Grrrr. Why couldn't she think of this a month ago?

So your FMIL wants to act like she has invited her all along? In that case then she should tell her that you are sending her another invite since she didn't receive the first one. Otherwise there is no way this woman is going to think you sent it out on time! She will definitely think she was an afterthought.

If it's not one thing....it's your mother....in-law.

I think it would look suspect on your FMIL's part because.... co-worker suspiciously gets the invitation after she mentioned something. I don't think your parents are you and Fh will be on the hook for this one. In fact, If I were on the receiving end of this late invitation, I would probably not attend at all.

sorry to be the downer on this one but if she is anything like my FMIL then she will place the blame on you.....oh i told them to invite you...they made their own decision to not send you an invite...or they wrote your address wrong

at least that is my experience with my FMIL all not to make HER look bad

(PS my wedding is two months from today and my FILs have not booked a RD place!)

I wouldn't worry about how it looks to this woman. She is the one who is extremely rude by asking where her invitation was. Your FMIL should have told her it's with her manners!
