I think my FMIL stirs the pot with me and my FSIL on purpose. She constantly complains about FSIL to me and it makes me get frustrated with her even though it has nothing to do with me. Is it rude for me to say I don't want to hear the drama? Anyone have a similar situation

Re: FMILs
I don't think it would be rude to tell your FMIL that she makes you unfortable when she complains about your FSIL to you. I think it's better to be upfront and honest then let something like this come in between you and your FSIL and you and your FMIL.

Whenever gossip starts with anyone, I just smile and nod. I figure I don't want to start a fight but I don't want to agree with anything that's said either.

Re: FMILs
I actually had this happen recently and my FMIL brought it up to me I told her straight out... 'I am sorry that I can't listen to this because I don't want to become involved and have other issues arise from it'. I have learned that often things you say are repeated not the way that you said it and that at times being there for someone can actually cause you issues down the road. I personal think that it's 100% ok to tell someone that you don't want to talk about something, no matter who the person is. She should actually respect you for not wanting to talk about other people.

Nothing wrong with voicing your opinion in a respectful manner. It's not fair to be put in the middle!

Thanks girls!!! It's so stressful when she tries to put me in the middle. Then if I do give any advice...she doesn't take it and it is annoying. I am going to try to say it politely .... lets see how this goes.

Re: FMILs
I find it somewhat ironic that 'FMIL' looks so similar to 'FML'
