How do I describe someone like this? I don't even know. She just has the TACKIEST ideas for our wedding! She is suggesting the most antiquated ideas for things and I am starting to feel like broken record repeating the phrases, 'Oh, that's a lovely idea, but just not our style,' or 'Oh, I don't think I should wear your _________ (fill in the blank with some tacky item) because my grandmother always wanted me to wear her's.' Sheesh, she's just really getting to me! I mean, come on ladies, I have to bring it up again, but she honestly wanted to sew decals on my dress! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

Mine is the same, she is sewing decals on her shoes and comes up with a bunch of stuff that is NOT my style, she also told me not to invite out of town guests to the rd(even though they are in the wedding b/c they might be tired!!! I love her son and her most to the time I think weddings just bring out the crazy in some people good luck

Yeah, I love my FMIL most of the time too. She's a handful these days though! The good thing is that she is very influenced by the things I say (for some strange reason!), and when I tell her no, she sees the light...except with the dress decal thing, that she is nagging me about. So I figure eventually she'll run out of things to suggest.

OMG Rachel I can't believe she won't let up!!!! Someone like that will never stop. I feel for you. When the shower comes I bet you will have the biggest wishing well. She'll probably will make it and expect you to show it off the in the livingroom year round...

My FMIL is not from this country (so is FH) so I have to bite my tongue every once and a while and hold back from saying 'this is how we do things here.' I love the whole family but their idea of a wedding is a lot different. I saw FIL's wedding pictures, Polish weddings are A LOT different.
As much as your FMIL may be driving you crazy, she will probably be the one to go far and beyond for you when the wedding day comes. Good luck!

I feel bad for bad mouthing her because she is so sweet and really wants to help, but she suggests things that I just cannot even fathom! If it were a cultural thing, I wouldn't complain, but she sits on her booty all day and has nothing better to do than come up with these ridiculous ideas! She had the nerve to complain to me about my wedding band yesterday! I decided to go with a wrap that I will have soldered to my e-ring. I absolutely love the way my ring looks, and all she kept saying is, 'Well, I would really like you to wear a plain gold band the day of the wedding. How about this, I'll buy it for you?' And then when I said thanks but no thanks, she said, 'Well, your ring is so impractical and once you start having children, then you'll never wear it again!' I was just wanted to say, listen lady, you're crossing the line into dangerous territory! I just said, then it will give J.T.(FH) a good reason to buy me a beautiful anniversay band!

Join the club! My FMIL has decided that she is going to plan our details..... um, my mother may want to help... hello She is not considering that this is a very emotional time for my mom (she is going through Chemo) and she really love to feel included. But, no, FMIL is only concerned about what she can do & what she wants.
to my sister brides who suffer from FMIL-itis!
ETA: I agree, I think weddings (or wedding planning) brings out the craziest side of people!
