FOCCUS Fyi

Hi ladies!
My FH and I completed FOCCUS this weekend (evaluation on Friday night and discussion on Sunday) and it was really very useful!

If you haven't taken it before, it consists of around 150+ questions about your values, goals and expectations reagarding married life as well as incorporating your current situation. There is no 'counseling' from the Deacon/Priest with it as it is just a tool for the couple to use to create discussions on their own.

We had a lot of 'did we talk about that' and different interpretations of the questions but I really feel like it was worth it.

Now onto PreCana!

omggg...we took the test in FEBRUARY...and we are still waiting to get a call back so we can discuss it!!!

me 2 and yet they called about pre cana

my church never mentioned having to do this. nor do i know anyone who has ever done it.

does anyone know if its a mandatory thing or just certain Church's????

We didn't have to do it either. We finished our pre-cana back in May and on the last night, they gave us our completion certificate then and there. Never said a word about FOCCUS.

I'm pretty sure all Catholic churches do this. We are doing ours next week. I would check with your church just to make sure. You usually have to complete it before Pre Cana

I would keep calling them. Maybe you have to get in touch with the Deacon/Priest separately?

If you do it through the Diocese of Rockville Centre, it is a requirement. When you sign up for pre-cana, you automatically get the computer links to do the FOCCUS. If you do pre-cana through a parish, it's up to the parish whether they require it. Mine does, but just recently made that change to require it! Hope this helps!
