FOCCUS & PRE CANA

FOCCUS & PRE CANA

So FH & I just finished FOCCUS this past Sunday which I though was great. Pre Cana starts next month. I'm not sure what we'll be doing for 3 hours for 3 Sundays.

Did anyone go through Pre Cana yet?? What did you do for the whole time?

We haven't gone to PreCana yet but from what I understand they tak about skillfor a healthy marriage, communication etc.

We're looking into it now...trying to decide if we're going to do it through our church or the diocese...

We did Pre-Cana back in April. It was 3 2-hour sessions for us.

Basically the first night they had a married couple from the church come in and talk with us. They told us how they met, their lives together and apart, and then told us about how they almost got divorced and then reconciled. Oh and we also took those 'how well do you know each other' quizzes.....FH failed, lol.

The second night they had a therapist who specializes in relationship counseling come in. He was actually really good. Even FH liked him. He told us about some of his clients and went over 'fighting rules' lol.

The last night a deacon came in and spoke about marriage and the church.

It was really one of the easiest things ever. We just had to sit and listen, we didn't really have to do anything.

We did our pre-cana in one day...basically they discuss around five different topics, things like communication, finances, family planning, etc. Its not a huge deal and we actually learned a few things from it.

We dont start our Pre Cana til the 9th. But I am actually really excited about it our Pre Cana couple seems awesome.

1st night was like a prayer service and you wrote each other a love letter.

2nd day we worked in a workbook on different excersises.

what is foccus ?

I did one part of my pre cana. It was about 5 hrs long. We heard a married couple talk about their personal life, their family's personal business and how they handle problems in their marriage. We also had this book that we answered questions about one another in. I think they shared way too much personal information about themselves like talking about their son's finances and it was 7 hours of their life story. How this effects me or my marriage I don't know lol. This should be free and why they charge 200 is absurd.

what is foccus ?

Foccus was for two Sundays in a row:
The first Sunday they give the couples a sheet with about 60 questions which you could only answer agree, disagree or undecided. The next Sunday they give you the answers & you & FH go over them to see what if anything you need to discuss or work at in your relationship
