FOCCUS test

ok so what happens when u go do this test?

we already did precana...

does the priest talk one on one with u about it?

No, they give you a copy and you guys discuss it. FH and I laughed like it was funny comparing answers.

FH and I took this test before precana, it shows where you are compatable, views about money, sex, etc... I wouldn't stress over it.

First we took the FOCCUS test in separate rooms (alot of questions). It was Scantron with #2 pencils(we joked about this before we took it and were shocked to find out this is really how its done.) Then after the test, we had to make an appt with our priest to get the results. The results were based on a number out of 100 and the priest discussed with us where our answers differed and where we were very strong(such as in Communication, Values, etc) There were different categories. Then after we discussed it he gave us our results to take home and read.

We haven't done FOCCUS yet, but we will be taking it soon. My priest told us that you are supposed to take FOCCUS first and then precana so that you can discuss some of your answers throughout precana. My understanding is that there is no right or wrong answers. Its just see where your beliefs fall in comparison to the church, not to each other.

the test is pretty annoying....but they are pretty valid questions.....

yeah it's a test and if there are any big 'differences' (GOD FORBID LOL!!!) they can suggest that maybe you should 'talk it out' or go to a counseling session (it's like gimme a break, can we have a little variety??

but i guess they look for BIG differences like bride wants three kids and groom wants no kids b/c that's a problem--or groom has a major drinking problem bride is unaware of--stuff like that but they ask the ?s and then compare them so that's how they find the 'inconsistencies'

i'm sure you'll be fine tho-- those things don't happen that often i'm sure or i hope lol

Yeah, they don't even talk to you. they just give you a question sheet and a bubble sheet to fill out. They are questions about different beliefs and plans for thr future to see if you agree on those issues. Then you discuss the test later on. I think they just want to make sure you have discussed these big issues before you get married.

we just did it. My church messed up and we did precana first and now we did the FOCCUS test. We filled in the bubbles. ten they are going to get back to us and we meet p with a mentor couple once and we discuss the answers.
