Anyone who took their foccuss test at the church and got a score of over 50% did the priest still need to sit down and talk with the both of you? I thought if you got above 50% they don’t need to discuss things with you, but the priest from the church called and said we need to make an appointment he still would like to discuss some things. This worries me a little just want to see if anyone else needed to do the same.

Re: Foccuss Test Results......
When we took the FOCCUS we were not told a numeric score. We were told, no matter what, that we had to go meet with a married couple from the church marriage program to discuss our results.
We went over any questions where our answers differe from the 'church's preferred answer' and any questions where our answers differed from one another.
There weren't many that we weren't on the same page on (any that we were usually were becuase of of us chose 'uncertain'). Overall, I thought of the experience as a conversation starter... something to get us to communicate about things that could potentially come up as a point of contention. But overall, there were no surprises in our results.
Don't be nervous - think about the overall experience rather than the 'score!'

Thanks for the reply.... We have to sit with the Priest to go over the results and now I understand after you explained I'm more at ease now knowing that this is what they do I thought we were being singled out.

Where did you hear that about only meeting it you get under 50%? We got over 50% (I don't remember the exact score though) and we had to meet with the Deacon. They told us off the bat that you had to meet with them to go over the test regardless. I wouldn't be concerned, as far as I know everyone meets to go over the test. Like the above person said, it's a really good conversation starter and it was like them saying 'You guys don't match so you shouldn't get married', it just highlighted areas that you might want to talk about more.

We don't get our score until we meet with our priest.

Re: Foccuss Test Results......
we got WELL over a 50%... we were actually asked not to share our 'score' at pre cana so we wouldn't 'offend' anyone.
but we did have a sit-down with the priest. because there were some things that we didn't score well on, but we already knew what so all he asked was 'do you know what you did not so great on' and we both said 'yea..' and explained that the part we had 'low' scores on were about the future and we don't know what the future has in store for us... he said 'thats all- have a blessed day'

I thought the priest told us that if you get a score of over 50% then you wouldn't need to sit and discuss I could of misunderstood. Well I feel more at ease hearing some of everyone's experience... The one funny thing I thought was they sat you right next to your fiance I thought they would of made you sit away from each other to take the test.

Re: Foccuss Test Results......
We found out our results from a couple and actually did really well. We have to meet with the priest again, but that is because we finished Precana. Im sure every parish though is different.

Re: Foccuss Test Results......
Is that where they ask you and FH questions? I think we did okay with it....our deacon let us stay in the room together and he basically answered the questions for us.
I am having a hard time finding an interfaith pre-cana.....we have to do an all day Saturday one in Douglaston [FH is not happy LOL]
