FOCUS and Engagement Weekend - Cathlic Church Girls

Has anyone taken the FOCUS test yet and booked their Engagement Weekend?

FH and I are going to get all that done this weekend and I just wanted some info from anyone who has done it yet.

I'm effin nervous about the FOCUS test.

Also - We HAVE to take that first, before registering for the weekend, is that correct?

honestly, I have never even heard of an engagement weekened? Is this maybe something only your church does?

I know for my church we have to do pre-cana and I'm not even sure if we have to do the FOCUS test but we might.

The engagement weekend is a form of pre-cana. You can opt to do a whole weekend retreat or just evening classes. We did the evening classes and we did not have to do FOCUS.

Our the weekend is basically pre-cana, Father Larry is all about it BUT he did mention the even classes if we couldn't do the weekend.

I gotta look into what's available when - I just don't want to miss the boat on it and it cause a problem for us.

Also - the weekend isn't all that cheap and you have to pay for the test too!

i dont know if my church does this? My sis got married at the church I am going to use and she just had to do these classes that prepare you for the change. She said they focused mostly on the money issues that ppl come across when sharing bills and stuff.

Well I am doing it throug the Diocese of RVC - so they are the one charging for it. I don't think it was that much. The church we are getting married in doesnt do internal pre-cana, he reccos this retreat thing and then said if we could do that to do the weekend classes.

I didnt do my FOCUS test yet but I am starting Precana in February. I heard the test is pretty long.

FOCCUS test was a joke. Just becareful they ask the same questions over and over again just change the wording. But I wouldnt worry to much on it. I took mine last Feb yes almost a year ago and STILL have not been called to go over the results. We just finished pre cana through our parish last month. I dont know anything about the weekend retreats but If you want a cheaper option my church will let couples from other parishes take the pre cana classes we had a couple in our group from another parish since theirs didnt do the internal pre cana. Ohhhhh OK.... im so confused

We have to do precana a couples retreat somewhere out east it goes from friday -sunday
Is focus mandatory also.. is it something that you automatically do after pre cana? and have to pay for out of pocket?

I took the FOCCUS test and went to the one-night class to get the results. I wouldn't be too nervous about it. I was actually nervous at first, but once you get the results, it's just you and FH talking about it. Our instructor came over for a few minutes to make sure we were talking about the questions we disagreed on - but didn't stay too long. I wouldn't worry about it.

I haven't heard about the e-weekend. Probably will just be doing the pre-cana classes at night or on the weekend.

would you mind sharing how much this weekend retreat is? when we met with the deacon, he recommended that we do the weekend since we don't live on LI and our parish's pre-cana is like 6-10 wks long...they don't have one of those weekend classes
