FOCUS Meeting

FH and I have our FOCUS meeting tonight. How long does the first meeting take usually?

Re: FOCUS Meeting

The first time we went was to take the test which usually takes about a half hour. If you're my DH, it doesn't take that long....he was just filling in bubbles because he didn't care what his answers were.

What's a FOCUS meeting and should I be concerned that I have no idea what it is?

When do you usually start going to these meetings?

I'm confused about the whole FOCCUS thing...my deacon told us we could take it elsewhere since we're planning from NJ...but then I go to an NJ church and they tell me we have to do FOCCUS with the deacon preparing us for marriage. Hmmmm. Yet we can take Pre Cana there...go figure.

The test took about 30-45 minutes.

The second session was the results and it took about 20 minutes.

We took the test with a lot of other people but going over the test is only the two of you.

It's not really a meeting. It's something you have to do if you're getting married in the catholic church. Kind of a compatability test to make sure you have talked about all issues before you get married....to make sure you're both on the same page about things.

Is it something that's part of pre-cana?

They told us last night that it's the 'beginning' part of pre-cana, but not every church does it. It was interesting. Just a lot of statements that you agree or diagree with, we have our 'results' meeting in two weeks. They said that can take up to 2 hours to do. So we shall see. Me and FH went to the diner for dinner afterwards and laughed about some questions and talked a little, but we are so open with each other that there really wasn't much on the 'survey' that we hadn't already discussed.

I guess it's considered part of precana but we did it on a separate day from pre cana

Our test took about 30 or so minutes, but the second session definitely was like 2 hours or so. Fortunately it was a nice older couple, unfortunately it was one of the hottest days in July and they didn't have AC in their house!
