I really want to have fans for the ceremony (outdoor, garden ceremony in August). I am looking on the web and can not believe how expensive they are (not personalized)! Seriously, I see fans that are $10-$20 EACH!!! Anyone know of any local places to get fans that are reasonably priced? Thanks!

Re: Folding paper fans!!!
check ebay, I was originally planning on doing my ceremony outdoors, and I found a vendor who was selling paper fans for a very good price. I forget exactly how much now..but I think $1/fan.

I found these on beau-coup.com I love their stuff! They have the cutest things! Anyway, these fans are going for $1.25 each. They also have the sandlewood style going for $2.00 (bottom pic)

Oriental Trading has these (they don't come painted) for $4.95 per Dozen. You could make your own tags and attached them.

Thanks! No I have another question...
I have been seeing paper fans, satin fans, and lace fans. Obviously the latter 2 are more expensive then the paper. Is it worth the extra money for satin or lace? If my bedget only allows for paper, is it a big deal?

If your budget allows for paper, then I say go for paper. I ordered a paper sample and a wood sample. I liked the wood and some of the fancier ones I saw online better but I was going to go w/ paper. They still looked nice and definitely would've lasted for the ceremony and maybe even after. If they aren't your favor or anything, as long as they'll last for ceremony purposes I think thats fine.

Re: Folding paper fans!!!
Not for nothing, but when I read your post I got this flashback of Mrs. Hartman's first grade class when I was 6 and all the kids were making paper fans b/c in June it was 90 degrees in the classrooms... she told us that waving a fan like that only makes you hotter... so I ask, is it worth the money? I'm just playing devils advocate. If they are an expensive item and more for decor purposes than the functionality one may think, this may just be the summer wedding industries way to play on your emotions that your boiling your guests during the ceremony... be more concerned about the skiters since it's a summer evening... then again, maybe you have

More concerned w/ bees actually. I don't know what to do about mosquitos. I know for a fact citronella is out, but I will talk to the hall. Could use the fans to swat them...just kidding! I think it would be a nice touch. I am not expecting too much heat so late in the evening, but I think it would go nice w/ the garden theme. I am also talking to the hall about having water available. If the fans make people feel more comfortable, then that would be nice...and it usually does. It depends on the price...I actually see some for a really good price on Amazon.com. I have to check ebay. Besides...you were the one who suggested it...remember?
Ohhhhh yeahhhh, I did suggest that... but for the purpose of swatting the bees of course
No it is cute, just didn't know what it costed at the time I suggested it.
Bare with me, I'm coughing up my lungs...
PS. I like the last (3rd) fan...

The one you like is $2.50 each, I found the sandlewood for $1.25 each. I could get just white paper fans for $0.89 each and put the programs on those. I am so confused, I don't know which one I want
