FOLLOW UP TO DRESS DRAMA

FOLLOW UP TO DRESS DRAMA

So..I had gone for what I thought was my 'first fitting' but it turns out it wasn't. They only wanted my $$$. Just to recap...I left the house with the wrong checkbook (FH's) personal checkbook. I ended up having to cancel the check because they were not going to cash it anyway. I informed the Bridal Salon after I left..and they told me they 'expected' me to bring them another check. However...I felt like since they lied to me and told me that was my first fitting and it wasn't, I am going to make them wait until August when my 'real' first fitting will be. That's the term they used before I left the salon on Saturday 'We'll call you in August to come for your REAL first fitting'. So...get this. Now they are stalking me. They called my house 2 times..and I'm just wondering why...because on my receipt it clearly states 'final payment due at first fitting'. Would I be wrong for calling and letting them have it?

ask to speak to a manager, tell them what your contract says and what a fitting really is. Do not let them harass you. Either that, or get your alterations done elsewhere, go give them their stupid money and get the dress out of there. Let them lose out on the money they would haven gotten from you for alterations.

The problem is I've asked to speak with a manager before..and the older woman (Roma) says she is the manager. I love my dress..but don't appreciate the way they have been at all!!!

i agree...pay them and then go elsewhere!!! not worth the risk...even if it states when you owe the payment...do you want them to lose it, tear it, stain it out of spite? (FH would kill me for thinking more negative thoughts...but you gotta look out for #1...and businesses are spiteful sometimes.)

go get your dress and find someone/somewhere else to do the alterations.

I'm going to pay the balance...but I am going to give them an earful first. I had a similar situation with them with my BM's dresses and additional costs that we were not told about for taller or heavier girls. They ended up giving them a $30 one time fee for alterations. Let's see what they are going to give me...

It's good that they had you in to visit the dress though to make sure it was the right one while there was still time to fix it if it wasn't.

I would read Mona the receipt. In fact, I would go down there and show it to her. You did not have a fitting. Your first real fitting will be in August.

It's not your problem that they have cash flow issues. They call people up and tell them to come for the 'first fitting' so they can collect the money before it's actually due.
Their policies are suspect at best.

I would take my dress out of there fast. After it's out of there, send the BBB a letter and cc it to the salon.

That's crap! I would be furious.

I am...and the way I see it..this is the last thing I should have to put up with. This is a stressfull time as it is..and they are now adding to it. i'm waiting for 10 to come..so I can start calling.

I think you should pay for your dress, take it, and get your alterations somewhere else.

I agree- pay for the dress, take it and run!
If they are being shady already, I wouldn't be surprised if 'all of a sudden' your alterations are way more $$ tahn you had expected.

Re: FOLLOW UP TO DRESS DRAMA

Well..I called the salon and spoke w/the manager who was VERY apologetic. She must have apologized about a dozen times. I told them that I had no problem paying for my dress, and would be willing to do so at my first fitting..but didn't appreciate being lied to about that being my first fitting when it wasn't..and being rushed and made to feel unimportant while there. I also stated I didn't want the woman who assisted me on Saturday to assist me anymore. She again apologized and explained to me that the reason they didnt' need me to bring my own crinoline or bra was because they have all of that stuff there..to which I added...I knew but the woman didn't offer it to me, and I will be purchasing it outside. She said that would be fine..and apologized once again. She's a lot more pleasant than Roma..who is about 1000 years old..

I couldn't really get upset at them about the additional costs for the bustle because it is on my receipt..which I failed to see. My alterations are free...and I will be sending them the check as it gets closer to the 'real first fitting' date.

Thanks for all of your advice..I really appreciate it.
