Cant decide whether to get fondant icing. I think it looks better but I heard it does not taste that great, plus im having red velvet cake w/ cream cheese icing and i dont even know if you can have fondant cream cheese & if you can if it doesnt taste good its a waste to pay xtra $ for spec flavor icing. Please give me opinions

Re: Fondant?
I have heard ppl complain about fondant. However, I have tasted one of Margaret Braun's (famous cake designer) and I thought it was really good. It is very sweet.

FH & I liked him alot! We met with Mic. Callahan and another officiant (cant remember the name) but we liked Rev Joe the best. He was really family oriented and loves animals. FH dug his tatoos too.

Re: Fondant?
I've heard that you can basically peel the fondant off the cake, so you don't have to eat it if you don't want to. I'm not sure if it's true, but figured I'd let you know the word on the street

Re: Fondant?
I had a fondant cake for my shower..I loved the look of it, but people did say it was very sweet. I don't care though..I will probably still use a fondant icing for my wedding cake..those weddings pics last forever..looks are more important to me than taste.

Re: Fondant?
Everyone thought my wedding cake was fondant because it was so smooth but it was actually buttercream. So, we got the fondant look without the bad taste.

Re: Fondant?
I had fondant cake and everyone raved about it. It tasted very good -- not too sweet. ALthough, I have heard that it depends on what filling you have.

I voted No, because I don't like the way it tastes. However, what we are doing we saw at another wedding. A friend of mine really wanted carrot cake with cream cheese frosting (which normally I don't like, but it was sooo good). Anyway she had the fondant over the cream cheese, so you could have the yummy taste of the frosting and the look of the fondant. We just peeled the fondant off. We are going to do the same, since I want the look of the fondant.
