Food allergy

I just realized as I posted for a cake under vendors that I may be asking for a large request.
I am gluten intolerant so that means no flour for me -

This bride wants cake on her wedding day since she has given it up thus far!!!

Anyone else with strange allergys

-yes it stinks no bread, or bages or pasta or even worse PIZZA for me...which is my favorite foods!--

I wanted ice cream cake so I could eat it but FH wasn't thrilled with my idea....the heck with everyone else! - I want chocolate cake! - at least in my slice!!

Re: Food allergy

I have food allergies and unfortunately, there are plenty of people that just don't take it seriously out there.

I'm severly allergic to pineapple and eggplant. SEVERLY allergic - my throat closes up, I break out in hives everywhere, face/mouth/tounge blow up, and I have to be taken to the ER for an epi shot.

In your case - I would definitely get a mini-cake - sort of like a 'grooms cake' for you, with whatever you want and however you want it. You can then ask your hall/baker to put your mini-cake as the top tier, and eat that while the guests have the other cake.

Re: Food allergy

good idea,

yeah the gluten thing is serious. Unfourtuantly I suffered for about 5 years till someone finally figured it out. Having a bloated stomach (looking prego) and feeling sick is definatly not how I will want to spend my day!

Allergies to fruit that's hard!

Re: Food allergy

Happy Happy Happy Bakery makes dairy free and gluten free cakes.

This is their website

They are in NYC and their phone number and email address is on the website.

A bride on LIW used them for her vegan cake.

eta -- If you can get to a heath food store, you'll find gluten free alternative to bread, pasta, etc.

Like Christine, I'm also anaphylactic. (Which is a life threatening allergy that needs to be treated as soon as symptoms start)

My allergies are sesame in any way, shape or form and dust. I have gotten attacks from salad dressings, pasta, pizza, and cleaning a dusty old fan.

I worried about the same thing happening on my wedding day because so many things have sesame oil and you don't know it.

Glad to know I'm not the only one that has to carry an epi-pen in my purse!!

I can't eat peanuts or have anything cooked in peanut oil

Re: Food allergy

thanks for the link guys but NYC is 80 miles away and way too much of a trip for the cake.

I am a frequent visitor of the health food stores, but got to admit I stick with my rice noodle pasta. Ends up cheaper and it makes a darn good spagetti - as for the GF breads - too high in calories and yucky.

I am sure that I will head there though on my next city trip though!

The girl who got her cake from Happy Happy Happy also got married on LI, so it doesn't sound like it's a problem for them to deliver...
