Food item you would rather starve than eat as a child that you *LOVE* now?

Food item you would rather starve than eat as a child that you *LOVE* now?

Just had yummy meatloaf last night (which I'd say I only started eating in the last two years because DH asked me to make it once).

When I was a kid I would do whatever it took to get out of eating it!! Including 'spilling' my glass of milk on my plate ... Let's just say my father made me eat it anyway.

Eggplant
Shrimp
Seafood--As a kid, I only used to like Calamari--now I like it all! LOL

I love asparagus. As a kid I would give it to our german shephard (along with my steak - I've always hated steak) but now I love asparagus! (though I still give a little to my dog)

Broccoli!!!
I despised anything green when I was younger and now love broccoli. (Still not too fond of the peas or asparagus...)

vegetables
red meat
broccoli
almost anything I eat now!

When I was a kid I was the pickiest eater....hot dogs, fries, mac and cheese....that's about ALL I ate!!! That would explain why I was a chunky teenager!

I've always eaten anything. I tried EVERYTHING as a kid (even random stuff that my dad likes: tripe, babalush, etc.)...Which is good, because now I'm not a picky eater.

I am still a finicky eater , but as a kid I was impossible! There are still plenty of things I didnt like then that I still don't like .. which is really ironic, because I exposed to all sorts of cuisine as a kid, because my dad is a chef and is amazing!

The big one that stands out in my mind is Pizza.. yes, pizza. I HATED and LOATHED pizza as a kid. Actually anything with melted cheese I hated as a kid .. wouldn't eat grilled cheese either.

And I also hated tomato/marinara sauce on anything, but esp on my macaroni. Not too easy to get around since im 100% Italian and had gravy at least 2x a week! I ate my pasta plain with butter and grated cheese. (I Love sauce now, of course)

Also could NOT eat meatballs .. Would gag on them!

Now, unfortunately, I LOVE pizza, pasta w/sauce, grilled cheese and meatballs... (of course, I no longer have the metabolism to burn it off quite as quickly! )

the very name cheesecake grossed me out as a kid because all I know of was American cheese- I wish I never learned the difference.....

I love that you called it GRAVY It was always gravy for us too!

I would have to say broccoli and spinach and cottage cheese. I don't absolutely love these things now, but sometimes they hit the spot and I just would not eat them when I was younger.

I was never really picky though, my mom always made me try things. She always said I could spit it out if I didn't like it. So I tried everything.

Gosh there are so many - I was the pickiest eater.
Any Vegetables - hated- without ever trying.
Hamburgers
All Seafood
Lamb Chops
Eggplant
Peanut butter
Tacos
Chinese Food

Needless to say, now I eat everything I can get my hands on!!
I think growing up I was never told I HAD to try these things - If I said I didn't like it, I didn't have to eat it.
Which By the way is NOT how I am raising my son!! He must try all foods and then determine if he likes it or doesnt like it!

I am Italian and allergic to tomatoes and I ate my pasta with butter.

Now I have grown up to eating it with garlic and olive oil or alfredo sauce.

I never really hated things so much that I would starve rather than eat them, but I was very picky and not very adventurous when I was little. Now I will eat things unless the smell makes me nauseous. If I don't like it, I wouldn't finish it though.
