Food Question for East Wind Brides (past and present)

Food Question for East Wind Brides (past and present)

What did you pick for your entree choices? Did you get a tasting, or just choose blindly from the menu?

Also, any good recommendations (or foods to stay away from) for the cocktail hour?

Thanks!

I didn't have a private tasting, I just went to one of the showcases. Everything that my family and I tried was DELICIOUS! And FH is an incredibly picky eater and he enjoyed everything (that he was willing to try).

I don't have my list near me but again, everything was super good.

We went to the showcase last night, but they only had some of the CH choices, and none of the entree choices, so we were a little nervous.

Do you remember if you picked salmon or stuffed shrimp?

We're choosing the filet mignon, the salmon, the chicken, and possibly the veal but I might go with the pork. They don't do tastings but I've been to two other weddings there and the food was delicious!!

My mom thought veal was a good idea, but I was concerned since some people have 'ethical issues' concerning veal, and some friends who are into food told me pork is very 'in' right now.

What about carving and pasta station choices? And did you decide on your chafing dishes? We didn't care for the stuffed mushrooms, but were surprisingly pleased by the eggplant rollatini, I don't even love eggplant but it was so good last night.

I can't remember the exact choices we made off the top of my head but FH and I have gone through the menu already and are pretty set with what we want. I really want to get him to a showcase though before we go for our menu consultation in 2 months so we can both try a few things. If I get the chance this weekend I will definitely post or FM you with the choices we've made.

I have to say we loved and everyone else loved everything!!! lol..

We did not need the tasting cause we knew the food was good. You can do a tasting with them though I believe.

When you go to decide your menu they really were helpful to in giving there 'advice'. It was nice.

Thank you, that is good to know. My wedding is December 12th, when do we talk to them about menu, would you think?

Also, how was it with the cake? We were at the showcase last night, and talked to the guy from Rolling Pin. It sounded like the basic cakes are very basic, and a lot of things are add-ons.

Did you get a tasting box from Rolling Pin? They said we don't come in for a tasting, we just pick up a box and taste at home.

Yeah we used the Rolling Pin also.. Our cake was great!!! We wanted the ribbon on it thought and cake toppers so we had to go and drop off the ribon to them they day before the wedding...

We never went and tasted the cake though. But it came out great.

We also did the Venetian hour too. It came out great.. Pics are in my album.

You would probably talk to them in late October/early November for the menu, that's my best guess.

As far as the cake, we're doing that at the same time as the menu consultation so I haven't discussed my options. They told me about the tasting box as well where we can email them what we want and then pick it up and take it home so we'll probably do that a week before we meet with EW for the menu so we're prepared.

We didnt do a tasting either- we just went to the Bridal showcase and tasted there plus my parents have been going to new years eve there for some time now and rave about the food.

We have our menu finalization next week-
we're going with the Prime Rib, Herb Roasted Chicken, Salmon, a pork dish, and then the Pasta primavera...

havent decided chaffing dishes and all that yet...

but i havent tasted anything from rolling pin bakery and i want to!!! we're doing a cupcake tower- maybe we'll go there and taste for ourselves.
