So we are having our wedding catered at a farm and the quote we got for food was more than we were anticipating. To cut costs we were thinking of eliminating the salmon option (we are having a buffet and think it's odd to have fish in a buffet anyway, also we aren't fish people so it doesn't matter to us). So the choices for dinner would be sautéed chicken topped with prosciutto, grilled black angus steak, and penne ala vodka. Our cocktail hour would consist of 10 different passed appetizers. Do you think this is sufficient? I certainly don't want my guests to be hungry or left without options.

I think as long as there is enough of those 3 options and the 10 appetizers, you should be fine.

10 should be fine but you need to ask them how many appetizers will they have on a plate and how many servers walking around. I went to a wedding last September at Midtown Loft & Terrace. The venue was gorgeous but you have to have your own caterers. There were many selections of appetizers but not enough servers. I believe she had 3-4 servers and they only had a about 10 appetizers on the plate. It wasn't enough and majority of the guest were in front of the kitchen waiting for the servers. The servers never made it past the mob of ppl and her other guest were complaining. The main course was served buffet style and the guest were asked to wait till their table number are called to wait on the huge line. When I finally reached the line the food was COLD and they were on burners. The wedding was suppose to end at 12 and when I left at 10, I want to say there was only about 30 ppl left and that's including the staff. I felt bad for the bride and groom bc they didn't enjoy the wedding and looked stressed the entire time.

@Kris- thank you for your response!!
@futuremrsponce- oh geez I have to make sure this doesn't happen! I actually never asked how many servers there would be/how many appetizers on each plate.. I will definitely be asking this when I speak to the caterer next. Thank you for responding!
