Food shopping

Food shopping

I hate it.
I hate parking at Whole Foods.

I love the music that streams through the place though. And the people who work there are nice.

I hate cart surfing through the people who seem to shop with their eyes closed. They walk zombie like at .7 mph and just stop and stare at ish like they can Jedi mind trick it into their carts.

I hate the way that they pack my bags. I always insist that I do it myself, but no, they have to be helpful. So I get to repack it all in my trunk.

What about you? Do you hate it just as much?

[I would get them delivered but there are a lot of things that I need that aren't availabe through peapod.]

I hate food shopping too. I go at 5pm on Thursday nights, there are much less people running around at that time.

Now that DH won't be shopping with me anymore though, I'm going to have to do it alone. I'll probably get it done in half the time.

By the way, I got a virus while trying to read your latest blog yesterday. The 'QLowZones-42' virus. McAfee caught it and deleted the files, thank God.

Thus, no more MySpace surfing at work. I'd rather take that chance at home.

Virus spreader.

shows just what a giving person she really is

I USED to LOVE LOVE LOVE food shopping...now I HATE HATE HATE it

it all happened after I got MARRIED MARRIED MARRIED. I moved away from my fav supermarket and french bakery. my life has never been the same.

I've tried the Jedi Mind trick to get a few of the neighborhood firemen in my cart...but somehow, the low-cut shirt trick works much better.

I don't mind it... but with 2 kids I rarely have the luxury of time to do it without being a harried mess. I use Peapod Home Delivery.

I love that. Saves me money too - because I am not prone to impulse buying.

OMG Yes. I am constantly mumbling under my breathe cause everyone just parks it in the middle fo the aisle. MOVE! I always get the loser cart that is loud and draws attention to me. I seem to be a cart magnet for being hit by others' carts.

Picking out snacks is fun though

I don't mind the food shopping, but I do hate the people that insist on standing in my way!!!!!!! Like I've got nothing better to do but watch you pick out peas!!!!!!!!!!!!

And PLEASE let me pack my own bag, I DO NOT like the way the cashiers insist on doing it. Everything does NOT need it's own bag, I swear if bags were currency I'd be rich!!!

But Kevin comes food shopping with me and we try to have a good time about it, we laugh and people look at us like we're crazy!!!!!

i loved reading this - i dont do my own shopping my parents still do it ha ha

but i used to be a cashier ( only about a year and a half ago) and people would fight to get on my line bc i was really fast and i knew how to pack stuff in the least amount of bags and still miraculously not put the eggs under the bottles of soda

i had to T R A I N other workers how to pack. . .and some of them just didnt get it? The younger kids would say 'oh i dont shop so i dont know what they want'
um. they dont want scrambled eggs and they dont want bleach with their kid's formula

I'm contemplating posting a very long and serious one soon - just for you.

love food shopping! (becuase I love cooking exotic / complicated things)

I'm a crazy woman. I go to fairway on sat afternoon and fight all the crowds.... it's like a sport to me!

I can't stand when a holiday is looming, though... Then, everyone wants to buy 'something special', so they ALL go to fairway for their good bread, cheese, and meat.
Result? everyone is clueless on where things are, becuase they're not regulars. I especially hate when middle-aged men show up for the ride. They don't even know grocerystore traffic patterns. They are standing around bored out of their gourd, reading a spatula label, and are completely clueless to the fact that they are blocking about 10 people from entering an isle....

I'm also the worst budgeter EVER. I get whatever I want. I don't look at prices.... scary scary habits

Totally not your fault! MySpace is rife with them, I should have known better. It was probably in the ad at the top of the page, I just didn't want you to get infected too.

I have to get caught up, I'm behind in your blogs. And verymuchso looking forward to the very long and serious one!

Re: Food shopping

Oh and by the way... Went to Fairway in Plainview last night armed with $1.00 off coupons that I downloaded from Seventh Generation for enviro-friendly paper towels, detergent, etc.

Got up to the register and guess what? They don't accept internet coupons. Can't tell me why, they just won't.

I should have made them void the stuff but it was already packed away. I'm going to write Fairway and Seventh Gen today to complain.

Re: Food shopping

I love love love food shopping. Because I am a shopaholic, and this kind of shopping is fully justified.
I go food shopping multiple times per week. Don't know why.

When I put the stuff ont he conveyor, I group it how I want it packed. All frozens, meat, fruits, breads- in groups- together.

My only complaint ever is if they put chicken in with anything else- which they usually don't.

There is a woman at the King Kullen in Bay Shore who feels the need to double plastic bag EVERYTHING. I'm talking 1 package of chicken, in it's own bag, double bagged.

I always try to use the hand basket, to avoid the need to manuver around the clueless, but I always have too much stuff for it, and regret it.

I also always get the squeaky cart.

Oh, and the other day, when I went to Stop and Shop in Bay Shore, there were soooo many hotties.
