i figured that most of you - like me - are a little skeptical of the supermarkets now in temr so making sure that they actually got rid of all the 'bad' food from the balckout...like they are showing on shame on you's on the news....
i just wanted to share for those in the nassau area that yesterday i went to the pathmark in levittown on hemp. turnpike and they were actually still sanitizng the freezers and dairy cases,, which made me feel much beeter....i couldn't get anytyhing b/c they didn't have anythigh out but at least i appreciated their hard work...
should we post the supermarkets that are good ro bad right now to help each other out??

Re: food store info - post blackout....
for home food...... it said on some governmeent website...
a tightly packed freezer can stay good for 2 days unopened. a half packed freezer can stay good for 1 day unopened...
a refridgerator, when the power comes back on, is fine if the temperature is below 45 degrees... if it is above it, perishables like meat and dairy should be thrown out

It is scarey. I have not eatten anything out since then, or bought any new food items.
Pretty bad that stores don't be honest and throw it out, as a precaution!

Re: food store info - post blackout....
I have been staying away from fast food places and the supermarket this week. Some of them are way too sneaky. But, we're out of food so I guess I have to go. I am getting tired of PB&J

I went to Western Beef and all of the food there was fine. THey actually had back up generators so the food didn't go bad.
