Food Tasting

If I am seriously considering a reception site, can I ask for a food tasting, or do most places insist you've signed a contract before you have a tasting?

I had mine after I signed the contract, but I was so in love with the place I didn't care. Maybe it varies by location though. Some places offer group tastings on certain nights.

You can insist on one...some do before and some won't do till after you sign but you can have them write on the contract 'contract can be voided if not satisfied at food tasting' I would not sign with a place unless they let me taste the food. I think it's a bad sign if they don't let you! You are spending thousands of dollars at there place the least they could do is give you a free meal!

I am booked at the Riviera. We asked for one because someone told us that they heard mixed reviews about the food. Vicki was more than willing to let us have the tasting before we signed. It was delicious and we got to see the way it was set up for a wedding! Just ask because it can't hurt!

My hall offered a food tasting prior to signing a contract. I don't see why they wouldn't let you - if there food is good enough and their confident you'll like it - what are they trying to hide?

I think its dumb that they make you put a deposit- but it was done to me- I asked for tastings at every site- If they dont give tastings Id run like hell
