That's a great question. I havent asked my RH about it, and they have not mentioned it. However, they do have frequent bridal showcases. I've been to one and had the opportunity to taste a lot of food for the cocktail hour, but no main courses. I'd like to hear other people's responses too. Do you have to ask for this? Or is this something that most places do automatically?

Several of the places that FH and visited offered tastings either 1- before you booked with them or 2- after you booked with them (before you finalize your menu)

Russo's did give us a tasting - we had it back in early December and we are going to probably finalize things in January/early February for our menu.

I think I remember her telling me I would have one when we finalized everything. I hope so i have to make some choices with my menu.

Based on my experience it's something that should be put in the contract!! I had a banquet manager who I signed with and assured us that we we would have a tasting when setting up the menu. She no longer works there and when I called they said they don't do tastings for anyone! She was also rude to me on the phone. I hate last minute surprises like these

we're having an outside caterer do our food.. and he told us to make sure we do a taste testing before we book stuff.. we gave him a menu we wanted and he insisted that we try it before we book it just to make sure, the taste is what we were looking for..

for our engagement party, we did a taste test, and it was the best thing ever, because we figured out what we did NOT want..

even if it costs some money, please do the taste testing because what is a couple of hundred dollars when you are putting out so much for the wedding.. JMO

After I booked my RH I found out they were having a food tasting...no one bothered to tell me until I asked. We went and we tasted most of the coctail hour foods, not the entrees.

We tasted the food prior, but after we booked we were invited there with his parents and mine for a personalized dinner. The chef came out and spoke with us and we were treated like royalty! We sat in the restaurant part and were literally forced to order multiple appetizers, each our own salad, a main course and then desserts. The appetizers and drinks alone filled us, but our BM refused to let us go without trying almost everything. They cooked us up full portions of everything, at salads the size of the table itself and feasted on lobster, shrimp, filet mignon and porterhouses! We couldn't fit dessert but again, he MADE us each order a different dessert. They were so amazing to us, gave our parents the grand tour and picked up the tab! I
