In our program we have written something nice to our parents, family and friends. I really would like to include something special for my FH's daughter. Something about Me, Fh and his daughter now becoming a family. Does anybody have any suggestions as to what I could write?
TIA

Re: For all you creative girls.......
I haven't thought of anything yet, but I am bookmarking for ideas. I am thinking about God bringing a child into your life as a choice....making a new family, couldn't be luckier. I am going to look for blended family stufff on the internet. If I find anything I will let you know.

No idea for the programs, but when my cousin got married, they gave her daughter a ring, too. It was one of those rings that is yellow, white, and rose colored gold, signifying the new family. I thought that was a beautiful touch.

We really want to do the family medallion ceremony. I am not sure since we are getting married in a catholic chuch if they would be willing to do this ceremony. I have to call my church and see.

Hi Georgia- We're actually doing the Family Medallion Ceremony. I don't think the church would mind. It's really just recognizing the children in the ceremony and acknowledging that they are part of the 'new family'.

How does the Family Medallion Ceremony work? Is it something formal, meaning a specific saying or procedure? What medallion do you use? That is something I would like to look into because my FH has 2 young sons. I've never seen it done before.

I don't know about the medallion ceremony, but my cousin was married in the catholic church, too, and they did the ring ceremony.

I love that idea! Very sweet to include FH's sons in your ceremony. My FH and I have a daughter. She is almost two - that is part of the reason we are waiting to get married. I really want her to be a part of the ceremony and I feel like she would be too little to understand and participate now.
When we do eventually get married I am going to include her christening candle in some way. Perhaps as our unity candle or something. Not too sure yet.

I saw this done on 'A Wedding Story' once too...I love it! I was kind of bothered by the fact that a friend of mine did NOT include her daughter in her wedding...especially since her husband is not the bio-father.
I think it's a wonderful and somewhat necessary gesture. The child comes with the parent..so it's natural that they are a part of the joining.
