can you please tell me how all your gifts were recorded? Did anyone have an easy way of writing down what was given and from who...I have a spread sheet of all the ladies attending in alphabetical order along with a space to write down the gift...there will be alot of people and I think its going to be a pain esp if people don't sign their last names...

As I opened each gift my BM wrote down the gift and the name of the person who gave it to me, it worked out really well! I think if you already have a alphabetized list that will be great and save time!

My FSIL wrote down all of the gifts and who they were from as I opened each gift. It worked out absolutely fine- I wrote my thank yous based on that list w/ no issues.

My FMIL bought a cardboard/paper shower scrap book that one of my friend's recorded the gift in and who it was from. It also had areas for notes, pictures, memories, etc.

my sister purchased a little booklet, which opened up for guests to sign as a guestbook, and there was a section to write all the gifts. It was perfect. My neice wrote down everything while I opened everything.

My bridesmaids did the same thing. They had the guest list in alphabetical order and filled in the column next to the name.
Overall it was a good system and worked well. There were some times though when I was so overwhelmed and I would say the gift was from 'Aunt Roseann' - they would ask for her last name - and I would just draw a blank. They then just wrote 'Aunt Roseann' on the bottom of the sheet. All in all it was a really good system.
Oh, and they also printed out the guests names on labels and put the labels on the boxes so when I got home not only did I have the list - but when I looked at each box I knew who gave it to me.

I did the same thing. My cousin actually took it upon herself and did it for me. I don't know how I would've prepared my thank you's w/out it. That was one thing I didn't even think of ahead of time. Thank goodness for family and friends who have been through this already.

One of my bm's wrote what the gift was on the back of the actual card after I opened it. It saved her from writing down everyones name or finding it on a list.
It worked out great!!

i also heard a tip to have 2 different people write it down as you open.. in case it gets a little hectic, nothing gets overlooked
