did you see the new i-macs that were unveiled yesterday?? the are AWESOME looking!!!!! AND g-5! i cant wait until my office upgrades...however i shouldnt complain, i have an awesome e-mac
i KNOW!!!! i was PSYCHED when i saw it yesterday!!!! i really really want one...i think i may be able to convince them since my laptop wasnt doing so hot and they replaced it with the emac...at least get me a hot computer to make up for it if you aren tgoing to give me a new laptoP!!!

Its ok... but its not spectacular.
I like the 'Lamp style' iMac a lot more (especially in 17'). I think that design was hot.

And just to clarify... I think the new style looks like somebody attached a laptop (perhaps a tabletPC) to a stand and there is your iMac. I dunno... its ok but not great.
G5 though is nice. I wonder if they make them in dual processor. That would be a pretty penny I am sure.

i like that it is a G-5 and i have a G-4 right now...also i like that it would take up last space on my desk!!!
i miss my laptop...but it was starting to die...i like my emac but can you imagine me bringing it home to work on it every night
i just hate my desktop at home cause then i cant sit and LIW on my couch!! (oh yeah and i have to sit in the office at home to do work too...yeah...i bring my laptop home to do work)

Nah not at all. I just feel that Apple has come out with some really cool designs for computers and devices in the past two years. I think they could have done a little better with this new imac.
But if I had money to piss away.... would I pick one up? Sure!

I doubt that would be the case. That hinge looks pretty sturdy. Definitely looks more sturdy than the lamp imac. Besides... how often would you be moving the unit to worry about the hinge.

that is very true, you dont move it all that much...i just like imacs b/c i like how they are all self contained in my crazy world!!! (and i know you prefer PCs anyday...but i am a mac girl at heart...i recruit graphic designers and they wouldnt have it any other way!!)

I hear that... I am a PC guy... but I don't mind the macs either.
If I had to choose a Mac... I would either get the 17' lamp iMac.
Or a G5 desktop with the 23' Hi-Definition flat panel display.
Now can somebody lend me about $6000 for this?

hahahahahahha i hear you!!! the price does add up!! but there is somethng about my macs that i dont ever want to go back to a PC as my main computer (especially now that i rely on key commands rather than a right click!!)

oh really? did you work there before they were acquired by aquent or after? where do you work now? I work for a smaller company that has offices in DC, PA and now one in NJ for the new york area as well
