For all you teachers...
I am looking into going back for my masters in education. Anyone have any recommendations of schools in Nassau County? Also, how long did it take you and any suggestions on what course of study to concentrate in?

If Molloy has graduate classes I would say that is the new favorite of our district, hiring wise.
Hofstra and Old Westbury also offer Master of Ed. programs. At the college where I work they are requiring everyone to have a Bachelor's degree in the subject area they want to teach (the state requirements will shortly be changing, and the state will also require this). So...depending on what you undergrad degree is in, you may or may not have to do undergrad courses first. I would advise not to do social studies--I got my Master's this spring and there were so so many social studies teachers, and hardly any had jobs. The science and math teachers seem to find jobs very quickly. Were you thinking of secondary school or el. ed.?
What do you think there are more jobs in...el ed or secondary. My undergrad degree is health related, so schools may require you to get an undergrad and masters in the same subject?
