No Drama Please.

Amy Fisher is going to be on dateline tonight. I have to work but I am going to tape it. I really want to see it and see what she has to say. I read the Long Island Press article she had and it was really intresting. She was talking about her time in prison and how she was punished a lot. Like she got punished for Heming her pants. She is really little and she said they where so long that she would trip over them. She got locked in what the called the cage (she said like a walk in closet) for months for altering Govt Property. She said when Pataki became governor he took away the free education to the prisnors. Which she believed was wrong cause the some of the people that where being educated where people who stole money to buy things and she said when they get out of jail they are going to be uneducated and not be able to get a job and go right back to what they where doing. She talked about how she had several jobs in jail and she got the crappiest ones. She had a high school diploma which most of the inmates didn't have and then she got called a spoiled brat.

I think it will be intresting. And I want to see it. The long Island Press article was a chapter from her book. Which I might actually read. She is having a book signing on Oct. 9th at Borders in Syosset.

Did anyone forget here about the victim? she has a bullet still in her head!!!!! Yes mistakes happen but hello shooting someone in the face point blank isnt something you say oh I was a stupid teenager for.

drama? just the headline of this post is drama- no one is putting anyone down here, everyone is giving opinions.
its funny how you have your hard working people who dont commit crimes live a 'normal' life but yet the ones who commit crime- tell their story get rich off of us- if you buy into it and they go on with their lives like nothing. YOu guys have to look at both sides here. I am with an open mind as one had asked- certain mistakes can be forgiven for others I dont think are so easy to be-. someone said she went to jail did her time- well dont you think she should have thats nothing special to redeem herself. she knew the consequences before she did it- shes from merrick a wealthy family- yes disfunctional but Im sure many of ours are and we are not going out shooting at innocent people?

I have to admit, I am curious to read the book. I am not an Amy Fisher fan and only remember the stories that were run in the paper back when everything first happened. I can honestly say I did not see ONE of those ridiculous movies ever made on the subject. I'm not one for watching made for TV movies based on the current events of the moment.

She was a stupid teenager and admits it. I was surprised when I first saw she was writing for the LI press way back when I first started reading it. My first thought was to laugh and think 'Oh, jeez, someone gave Amy Fisher a job writing a column? They did that to attrack readers!'
Well, low and behold, the woman blew me away with her well written articles and thoroughly researched comments on some pretty serious subjects.
She was sentenced to jail for her crime. She served her time and has tried to turn her life around. Everyone has the right to make a living for themselves and she has written a book which seems to be a constant reminder to parents how easily the control of your child can be out of your grasp. She is also joining a radio station on a morning crew which shows me she is also a hard working mother and wife now and not the brainless teenager she was many years ago.
Those are the reasons that make me interested in reading her story and buying her book.

Very well put. She never claimed she didn't shoot someone. She admited she did and she Admited how stupid she was a young teenager.

Im not really sure how its not ok for her to make money (all though if you watch the dateline specail she said that the book was self published and the little money she makes most of it goes to charity) but its ok for that scum bag Joey to make Porno movies.
Hie brother and his kids live down the block from me. And he is an A-Hole just like Joey. Not saying Amy was right just saying she served her time. She was a stupid kid. With an older man that she thought she loved telling her todo things. Lets not forget that stupid mans wife wrote a letter to ask for her to get out of jail early.

Just wanted to add to this....

Mary Jo actually wrote a letter to the jail saying she felt Amy suffered enough and they should let her out. That amazed me.

I don't really remember all the facts of what happened, but I work with troubled adolescents and I can see how this happened to her, and I think Joey Buttafuco (SP?) is to blame, too

What she did was wrong, no doubt, but I can't help but feel bad for her.

I agree with Kel - I happen to have compassion for both sides - It used to be only for Mary Jo but now I do believe Amy has been punished enough and is entitled to make a new life for herself.
