For anyone who has been to hawaii ...

Could you please recommend your hotels for Oahu and Maui? I am in the process of booking our HM and want to make sure we stay somewhere nice but affordable

We stayed in Oahu at the beginning and end of our trip at two different hotels:

Royal Hawaiian
Sheraton Moana Surfrider

At the Royal Hawaiian, we were upgraded to a suite. It was a nice hotel, right on the main strip, everything is pink inside.

At the Sheraton Moana, we were upgraded to an Ocean View. It was a nice hotel as well.

The hotel that looked the nicest that we passed was the Hilton Hawaiian Village IMO.

In Maui we stayed at the Westin in Kanapali Beach. It was wonderful. The pool was beautiful, the area was beautiful and the staff were phenomenal. According to DH it's the best hotel he's ever stayed at (I think that award goes to the Princeville in Kauai but, that's JMO).

We stayed at the Halekulani in Oahu and the Fairmont Kea Lani in Maui. Both were very beautiful. The service at the Halekulani is amazing - they escort you to your room and check you in in the room! DH and I were looking for the restaurant and asked the conceirge and they walked us there! The Fairmont had really nice rooms - our room (which was the basic room) was like an apartment with a small kitchenette and a living room separate from the bedroom. HTH!
